About Zach

I want to provide a safe and caring space for people to express themselves while also bonding with their friends. And hey, maybe we can make some new friends along the way. Heroes journey and whatnot. I have a few years of DMing experience under my belt with my games often being described as an "entertaining mix of roleplay and combat" as well as "a fever dream" and occasionally "are you ok?" New players are always welcome at my table and I in fact actively enjoy bringing new people into the community. This continues to hold true for people in the LGBTQ+ community. I am quite proud that people can view me as a safespace in gaming and in my personal life and I take that pride with much seriousness.

My favorite books are

The Dungeon Crawler Carl Series, Legends and Lattes, Kings of the Wyld, and Dies the Fire. Any of you with nerdy bones in your body and a love for reading I highly encourage you to take a look at these books.

My favorite shows/movies are

Shameless, Ted Lasso, Walking Dead, For All Mankind, KPop Demon Hunters, Chainsaw Man..... This list would go on for a while lol but I'm always game to talk in person about any of these XD

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

I called 2 of them (yes im that old) to ask and the consensus was, "Flexible, Intuitive, and Fun". Which made me feel all warm and fuzzy as I sauntered back to my desk. Then my neck cracked, because while my style of play is flexible, I am not XD

How Zach runs games

- I love roleplay in my games both between individual players and between players and NPC's. That conversational flow is always such an intriguing and vital part of the experience to me. Can you get through this encounter without combat? If you look around enough and ask enough questions, the answer is almost always going to be yes! - I also love me some combat. Setting up an intense encounter with multiple variables and requirements for the players to come across while also fighting for their lives is AMAZING. And who knows? Maybe that chain devil that got away got a little stronger afterwards? Maybe you will have to deal with a new nemesis with a very personal and very robust beef. - You will rarely feel weak in my campaigns. That is not me saying that it will not be a challenge. But I personally would much rather you feel that you got bested by a powerful foe, rather than you got bested by being weak. We have weak every day of our lives. We play TTRPG's to be who we want to be. - I tend to lean into the "Rule of Cool". If the game or scenario has a rule that just feels clunky or unfun or convoluted and I or a player can think of a better solution, I will generally use that solution. Which means, if there is ever a scenario that doesn't feel fun, PLEASE tell me. I want this to go smoothly just like you do, and the way that happens is by working together towards that goal.

I once ran a session...

For 15 children at a library. I wanted to offer a free program for people who didn't know how to get into the TTRPG space to do it in a positive and fun environment. My villains were Junkrat and Roadhog from Overwatch. Yes, I am in fact that cool XD

My favorite trope is...

Underdogs coming out on top. Whether it's because the mouse wants a wheel of cheese or because Robin Hood wants to overthrow the Sheriff, I love when the little guy wins.

Rules are...

Important, but not to the detriment of the player and game experience. If you can tell me WHY something that doesn't work rules as written works in this instance, I will generally allow it. Fun is king at my table.

Zach's ideal table

My table style falls in the realm of casual, safe, and collaborative. Everyone is welcome around my table as long as they welcome those around them as well. Also please tell me all the nerdy nerd things you like! I love learning new things.

I am for a vibe that's...

Fun, casual, respectful, and safe. I want my players to feel that they can be their real true nerdy selves when they come to my tables and I do everything I can to help facilitate that experience.

I love it when a player

Gets so excited for a game concept that they fill pages and pages with their backstory. I put alot of effort into my games and it's such a nice warm feeling when I know players vibe and enjoy it.

My table is not the place for...

Hate. There is entirely too much of that nonsense out in the world, and it will not be allowed at one of my tables. Friction between people is real and it happens. We can figure that out. But people that hate.... absolutely not.
