How Jeff Dahw runs games

Campaign types: I'm a big fan of conspiracy plots, prison breaks, investigative mysteries and globetrotting adventures. The games typically start small in scope to develop character relationships and can remain on a personal scope the entire campaign or expand into large world changing scopes. genres: most specialised in the Horror, mystery, intrigue and action genres. Game Mood: I love drama and while humor is necessary and welcome the mood of my games is often serious and intense, events are given weight and both failure and success are very consequential and I run games to really get in character and build stakes to provide memorable experiences, the mood can get dark but not overly brooding. GM tools: While theater of the mind can be fun, I love using Maps and music to enhance the scenes, love to give characters unique voices and mannerisms and descriptions of environment to bring the world to life. Theme campaigns: During play, the games I host focus on character motivation and causational plots, every action makes sense within the world and the characters will respond and act independently, I often cap my table sizes at 4 players since that allows enough room for every player to meaningfully interact with the world, develop their character and connections to the NPCs they choose to associate with. rp/combat ratio: It really depends on how the party behaves, seldom they'll find themselves thrown into combat for no reason and most of the time cleaver social navigation and preparation can avoid it entirely. Difficulty: No encounter is designed to kill the party or humiliate them but my games do not play like an Esports match your decisions will determine what kind of fight you find yourself in, if you manage to thwart the villain's plot in a court of law he might not even get a chance to fight with his fists and the conflict might be entirely of the mind, recklessly invade a bank and trigger the alarm and you might find yourselves surrounded.
