About Richard
Disabled former cook who use to play and DM weekly games with others in my restaurant but lost touch with people as i didn't have the ability to get out and get together anymore. Now a days i only DM a small game for my brother, niece and nephew. Have been playing D&D since 3.5 ED and most of my DMing experience is in 5th ED, having run some one shots at local games stores for Adventurer League style game nights. Unfortunately the store closed due to the owner's failing health and i haven't had much luck finding a group to get together to meet regularly. I am constantly thinking of storylines for campaigns but don't have players to play them but then I saw the ad for this website and decided to check it out to see if it was something I could be interested in. I got very excited when I found out I could possibly earn some extra money doing something I love to do and do in my head any ways.

My favorite books are
Sword of Truth series, The Wheel of Time series, Dragon Riders of Pern series, the Xanth series and of course The Legend of Drizzt series
My favorite system of all Time is
I really loved the 3.5 system because it was the one I started out in but also because it had a more fleshed out in game economy. It felt more like another world you played in then now a days where it has been simpled down to allow new players to get into the game.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing RPGs on my Playstation or watching Critical Roles episodes on YouTube
How Richard runs games
i try to make the game fun but challenging. i like to work with the players to weave the story and not railroad them into the direction i want. I also try to go along with a rule of cool that if a player tries something they normally wouldn't be able to do but pull it off with a dice roll or a good roleplay explanation, I'm willing to roll with it and add it into the story.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
I want to say directed by Peter Jackson but we all know that's mist likely Terry Gilliam from Montey Python directing what is happening in game
My games focus on...
Having fun, letting my players direct the story somewhat while I make it up as I go like any good GM does
Rules are...
Are a good baseline but can be overridden if a better idea appears or if someone pulls off something cool
Richard's ideal table
My table is about having fun while the players work together to write their story. I try to make so players that are fans of Fantasy books through fans of video games can find something to enjoy while at my table.

I love it when a player
Pulls off something totally unexcepted and surprises everyone whether its a success or failure on their part. That is the fun of the game whether you succeed or whiff in game.
I think it's a red flag when players...
try to take charge of the game as a player and try to overshadow the other players. If they want to be in control, they can quit D&D and go write a book instead of ruining the fun of the game
I think metagaming...
ways for me to get ideas sometimes. It also kind of gives me an idea of where the party is headed and their mindset in the game
