About Brenton
My favourite part of TTRPGs is getting excited and invested in telling a story with someone else who is also having fun and getting invested writing campaigns based around players' characters! Fictional worlds are always more special when shared with someone who can get just as excited as you, I hope that that's me! I've been playing TTRPGs for eight years and GMing just as long! I like to lead with character driven stories and offer as much creative freedom as possible to my players! I'm a great choice for new and experienced players, I am versatile and will always work to ensure that everyone at my table is having fun, feeling safe and is able to contribute and enjoy the sessions. I feel strongly that everybody should have access to play and I ensure that everyone at my table will have access to all the assistance and tailoring that they need to have fun!

How Brenton runs games
I tend to lean into RP led story-driven campaigns with small sub-arcs of plot to avoid the need for overly detailed note taking but I am always able to adjust and plan campaigns based on what players want from the game. I lead theatre-of-the-mind games to ensure that players don't feel pressured into the course of action that I had preempted but have a few maps up my sleeve should the occasion call for it. I feel very strongly about player agency and will always attempt to tailor stories and settings to the players' desires and sensibilities. I like to write stories around PC backstories as I feel that it's simply more engaging that way. I help my players to hold the reins of the story and to feel safe and comfortable doing so. I have often been described as a "Yes-and DM" because I enjoy improvising collaboratively with my players!

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
The duo of an overtired film student with a deep passion for storytelling and meaning and an over-caffinated three-year-old with a deep passion for giant-mecha-dinosaurs with lasers on them. Both of them think they're the competent one...
I prep by
Checking how players feel about their PCs, their backstories and futures and try to weave all of that into a single plot that can still take them by surprise! I love when players do some unexpected development that alters the future of my plot! It's a game for me too! (I always carry my notebook)
Rules are...
Excellent guidelines that are usually best kept to but are always second to enjoyment
Brenton's ideal table
The vibe at my table is usually very relaxed and friendly, I tend to go more with group vibes than hardcore preset stories. My ideal players would be people who were excited about their characters and are willing to get invested in the collective story. Passion, kindness and a group spirit are the only things you need to excel at my table. I am happy to teach rules, recap info, improvise issues and write around whatever players want to do!

I am for a vibe that's...
we're all in the car and we all take turns to pick the music. I just happen to be the one driving! We can relax and make fun of tropes and still happily engage in them. I would hope that nobody feels uncomfortable at my table.
I love it when a player
completely destroys my plan with something clever! Seriously! It's awesome to see and it gives players a real sense of having beaten not only my game but me myself!!! I also love dramatic speeches and reparte with any of my self-righteous villains or PCs! It lets me see emotional investment! Lovely!
I think min/maxing...
is fine. I see it as part of my role to ensure that every PC gets a chance to shine and min/maxxers have a very easy way to give them spotlight by showcasing their maxes and give it to others by emphasing a situation where their mins are more important. It's also great for character drama!!
