About Eric

I discovered Dungeons and Dragons in middle school and have been playing consistently for over twenty years now. I started with 3.5 and currently run 5e games. TTRPGs have really allowed me to explore my passion for storytelling, which I am always eager to share with the people around me. I consistently tell new people I have met that everyone should try at least one TTRPG, and I'm usually ready to run D&D in particular at a moment's notice via a few apps on my phone and a dice spinner I keep in my pocket. In addition to Dungeons and Dragons I have experience with Call of Cthulhu, Mork Borg, Lancer, Cypher, and a handful of other systems. D&D has kept me coming back because I find it to be a good framework for storytelling, while also being a flexible enough ruleset when it needs to be. I do my best to create a welcoming table for new and experienced players alike.

How Eric runs games

I like to emphasize roleplay and reward creative problem solving whenever possible. In longer campaigns we might have a session of heavy roleplay followed by a session that is a bit more combat focused, to balance things out. During one shots players can expect some roleplaying right in the beginning of a session and a larger combat toward the end. I also do my best to create combat scenarios that are more dynamic than a typical fight to the death, usually with a win condition or goal beyond just killing all the bad guys. Tonally I prefer to tell semi serious stories (typically with a horror or suspenseful slant), punctuated with some silliness.
