About Sicarii Skye
You enter a tavern. Through the haze of pipe smoke and garrulous patrons you spot a mysterious man in a dark corner. His aberrant gaze peers from beneath a black hood adorned with colorful patterns like an aurora in the night sky. He beckons you to come over and with a low, distinct voice asks, "Do you want to play a game? I am Sicarii Skye. For five years I have travelled the land weaving tales for brave adventurers young and old. As a specialist in the tomes of Dungeons and Dragons 5e and Pathfinder 2e, I have taken many on journeys to far reaching realms full of wonder and peril. I have also dabbled in the dark arts, using Forge, one of several so called Soft Wares, to aid adventurers on such journeys. In my free time I create and design worlds. Will you join me on an adventure?"

How Sicarii Skye runs games
My GM style puts emphasis on immersion, whether through compelling roleplay, challenging combat, or intricate setting design. I try to bring the world alive and make it feel lived in. While fantasy games are power fantasy, I want players to feel as though they are diving into a world that has existed long before them and will last long after, though hopefully singing songs of their legend. I dislike NPCs and settings that feel copy-pasted and bland. I try to make every character, city, geographical feature, etc. feel as real as possible. My campaigns are challenging. While I have every intent for players to succeed and have fun, I don't scale for level (unless otherwise requested or specified by a pre-built campaign). It's a dangerous world out there, and it takes courage, willpower, wisdom, and some good dice rolls to carve out a legend. Most of my enemies are difficult; however, I always provide ample tools to succeed. In that vein, I greatly value player creativity. Bring out the wild ideas, push the limits of what's possible, and lean in to the chaos. Your class/race/whatever isn't what makes a unique character; it's what you pour into the role as a player that gives a character depth and nuance. I will always reward creative ideas with Inspiration/Hero Points. As for rules, while they are necessary for structure, I'm quite "rule of cool." My entertainment value comes from giving players a world and the tools to succeed and seeing what they can accomplish rather than finding sadistic enjoyment at their folly for not memorizing the player handbook. Most importantly, I am all about narrative. I put great emphasis at helping players create a compelling character through backstory, flashbacks, dreams, character secrets, and so forth. These tales we tell should be remembered, not just as "that Twilight Cleric I played once" but as fully fleshed-out, believable people who lived and breathed, whether or not they exist.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
the brain child of Ridley Scott, Stanley Kubrick, and David Fincher. At least, that's what I'd like to think. Depending on what vibe the players want, it could turn into Monty Python pretty quickly.
I once ran a session...
with 4 plotlines running parallel to each other, with 15 players all playing 2-3 characters across each plotline. Never again.
Rules are...
more like guidelines, but also necessary to maintain logic and structure of an otherwise chaotic and malleable world.
Sicarii Skye's ideal table
Relaxed but focused. I like everyone being involved, even if their character isn't in a particular subplot; however, I try to be realistic about the fact that staying 100% focused 100% of the time is a tall order. It is important for everyone to work as a team, even if their characters might struggle to get along in game. The purpose of this hobby is to tell a story and have fun. I appreciate an emphasis on roleplay, but it is important to separate real life from fantasy. Combative players are not welcome. I welcome players from a wide variety of play styles, but I want purpose behind each play style. For example, if you want to be a murder hobo, killing with no purpose is not what I'm looking for. There should be narrative intent behind your character's actions. Similarly, min-maxing to wield as a point of superiority over others in the group is not welcome. However, my goal is to provide players with a space to feel empowered, utilizing their real-life skills and idiosyncrasies in a fantasy environment that is rewarding and fulfilling. I welcome creativity and try to reward out of the box thinking. I want a table that feels like a haven for being oneself and exploring a world at your fingertips.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
creating characters that etch their name into the history books of a fantasy world
I love it when a player
outsmarts me. It makes me a better DM, and I love a challenge.
I think min/maxing...
is awesome. Some DMs get annoyed when a character becomes too OP. I see it as a challenge and an opportunity to develop the world to meet the challenge.
