About Kazi

I'm an avid old-school gamer, both in TTRPGs as well as Computer RPGs. Started out my TTRPG journey playtesting D&D Next (5e) with some friends and instantly fell in love. I've been GMing for well over 10 years now and have since pivoted through various systems and styles of play, most recently settling on the OSR style as my favored manner of gaming and system. I have experience with D&D 5e, 3.5e, 1e, B/X, Pathfinder 2e, Fate Core, OSE, Shadowdark, and Dolmenwood as a GM, while also playing a handful of other RPGs over the last decade. I enjoy keeping my table fun and engaging and recognize that most of us get into this hobby to have a good time, which is what I tend to encourage. You'll find that I tend to be fairly organized, and will go through great effort to ensure everyone at the table is armed with the tools and resources they need to get playing ASAP, and without hassle. I don't want players to have to deal with a ton of overhead, that way they can focus on actually playIng the game.

How Kazi runs games

I am primarily a roleplay first kind of GM. I don't get into incredibly tactical or crunchy systems unless it makes narrative sense. I prefer light combat rules that resolve quickly so don't expect combat to take up significant amounts of time in game. Combat and other threats are telegraphed in advance, but I don't fudge die rolls, nor do I try to balance encounters. I am not seeking out character death, but it remains a very real possibility if not careful. For the most part I prefer to let my players come up with out of the box thinking to get through various scenarios. I tend to give out information more freely, letting the players taken in as much information as they feel they need, with very few rolls required to find hidden information. If you explain what your character does, and it makes sense, it will happen, no roll required. If there's a slight chance that things could go wrong, that's when dice are rolled. Therefore there is a good chance that there will be some sessions where players can go the entire length without rolling a single die, and using their wits, equipment, and character traits to pull through. I prefer making rulings as we go along, if there are written rules that don't make sense to the party or feels like can be adjusted, I tend to hear it out and am not afraid to adjust the rules to what makes sense or is more fun for the party as a whole.

Kazi's ideal table

Players that love to talk and solve problems together will fit well at my table. Nearly every aspect of my game is a sort of puzzle that would need to be resolved, sometimes in complicated ways, but usually just thinking outside the box. If you enjoy a highly reactive world, with on-the-fly thinking, you'll thrive in my games.
