About Marcel Marino

Hi, my name is Marcel and I love telling stories. I'm married with two wonderful kids, and we all play table top games together. Tech guy by day, and advocate for a kinder world. I sing, practice a number of accents for fun and role play, cook, bake, tend bar, write, and build applications.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Warhammer. I've never played it actually but I could probably form all the pieces into raft. Okay fine D&D 5e, 5.5, Vampire: The Masquerade, and my entire Playstation 5 that I've attached a solar panel too. Should have specified.

My favorite books are

Stormlight Archive, Uprooted, everything Will Wight (Cradle, Elder Empire, etc.)

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing videos games and also playing D&D as a player. Writing stories and building maps. Playing with my children, and playing co-op Stardew Valley with my wife.

How Marcel Marino runs games

My games strive to maintain a balance between roleplay, story, and combat. All of my players get two personal quests written for them, based on their backstory and starting or primary class. This is worked out ahead of time with the players, although many mysteries await as they vie with the forces arrayed against them.

Rules are...

Guidelines to give structure and support fairness. I generally follow them but often make exceptions when the situation calls for it, usually in favor of the player.

When it comes to voices

I try to vary them as much as I can. I am pretty good as Southern European (Spanish, Italian), British, Brummy, and Russian and do okay with French, Australian, cockney, and a few others

Marcel Marino's ideal table

Four to six players who like a 50\50 split on combat and role play, have cameras on, and can roleplay with a unique voice that lets us tell when they are in or out of character. Players communicate their needs and character goals and work with the DM to tell their story.
