About Murfle
Chill, Mature & Story focused. Hi! I'be been running campaigns in a custom setting for a while now, and I'd love to introduce unsuspecting players to what has become known as Akkra: The Phaselands. Message me for a link to my discord!

I became a GM because
I love telling stories.
My favorite system of all Time is

When I'm not running games I'm...
prepping them.
How Murfle runs games
"Cooperative Storytelling" is the theme of my games. A proper NPCs should always have traits, goals and motivation. Tactical meaningful combat that progresses the story is top of my priority, but I tend to spice it up. No monster is ever used straight from the handbook. They'll have special equipment, abilities, carry unknown diseases or use unconventional tactics. My bosses and bigger monsters will always have "Legendary Actions" regardless of the ruleset, and will give the players a run for their money. Exploration and thinking outside the box is always welcome, and puzzles tend to have more than one solution. I like tension in my games. You're down to your last ration or spell slot, the massive forest fire is spreading around you, and an impossibly large horde of orcs that's been following you for days is just over the horizon. Scarce resources, Limited time and seemingly slim odds of success. If you like the feeling of adversity in your game, this is where you'll find it.

I deal with rules issues by...
making a quick and satisfactory ruling, moving the story along and checking on the ruling in detail later. The session flow takes priority, but I try and not get caught up by the same rule more than once.
I once ran a session...
Where I was trying to be lenient to a lone Rogue looting in an isolated part of the Dungeon. Eventually I had no choice but to wake up the Undead Knight Commander who's coffin she was rifling through and rolled an attack. You know? As a warning? Instant Crit,2d6 Max Dmg, and the Lv1 Rogue went down.
I prep by
putting on some tunes and immersing myself in the world. I'll focus on the part of the world my players are in and on Who or What they might run into, what sights they might see. Atmosphere is very important and this is where and when I try to dial it in.
Murfle's ideal table
Any player willing to learn, willing to accept others and especially - anyone looking to make friends and enjoy the collaborative story-telling experience.

I love it when a player
prioritizes roleplay over taking effective turns or metagaming. Thinks outside the box.
I think metagaming...
should be avoided when possible! But sometimes It can't be avoided and so I'll be lenient as long as it makes -some- sense.
I think min/maxing...
is great! As long as the player also maxes their approach to roleplay. There's no reason a min-maxed character can't also be piloted by a player that's interested in the story aspect of the game! :)
