About CRTScream
I'm Matt! I'm Ireland-based, but you won't know from my accent, and I've been playing TTRPGs since my first year of university! I started with a Pathfinder game that was being run by some classmates, and by the time I graduated with my Master's degree, I had been DM'ing 5e for years! Both degrees were in different kinds of story-telling; the first was theatre, where I learned how to act, and the second was film, where I learned how to write and create stories. (You could say I've been roleplaying both in and out of school hours!) I have the most experience in D&D 5e, but I recently branched out and started a Marvel Multiverse game, and have run a few games of Alice is Missing (that I'm looking to adjust and homebrew for different genres as well!) so I'm always looking for more indie RPGs! I prefer fantasty, sci-fi, and superheroes (I like to play lighthearted, heartwarming games), but I also love to spice things up with some horror or drama on occassion! I'm also a proficient artist, and I love any opportunity to flex my muscles, so if we're playing a game and you want some character art to go with it, I'll be happy to oblige. I'm LGBTQ+, so all games will be queer-friendly, and any games with heavier topics will have discussions around lines and veils! Happy gaming!

I became a GM because
I love storytelling, improv, and dice games! It started out with a love of fantasy, and it's still going because of a love for what we can make with some dice, some cards, and some creative imagination!
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Funny, creative, and calm!
When I'm not running games I'm...
Drawing, playing video games, or reading comics!
How CRTScream runs games
I prefer roleplay and puzzle-solving over combat - I'm not opposed to a good boss fight or taking down some low-level goons, but I'll usually try to give players a way to get out of a situation without any punches thrown (or at least reward you if you figure one out for yourself)! I also like to play in weird and wonderful worlds, that are borderline comic and cartoonish! Worlds where, if you roll a Natural 20, you can break the laws of physics and flap your arms fast enough to stop yourself from falling off a cliff, or bargain with a locked door to try to get it to open! Think realism, with juuuuust a touch of Looney Tunes, but with still enough heart to handle the deeper moments and get through the darker pages of the story.

I prep by
Knowing where I want the players to go, and letting the road rise to meet them with every decision they make!
Rules are...
A basis for a fun game, but should be used as a jumping off point, not as a restriction!
When it comes to voices
I'll be trying my damn best, though they may be a bit larger than life!
CRTScream's ideal table
My table style is one where everyone is willing to feel silly (and be rewarded for it!), to try to find a fun way to play within the world, who loves solving a mystery or putting together a puzzle, following an arc for their characters that will have twists and turns, highs and lows, loves and fears... but at the end of the day, while your character won't be the same as when they started, they will have grown into something more!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
- Dimension20! (Specifically Starstruck Odyssey, Neverafter, Mentopolis, or Burrow's End)
I love it when a player
Is willing to try something different, use an ability in a unique way, or come up with something I don't expect!
My perfect party mix is
A mix of experienced players and newbies! I find that the new players will come up with ideas that the experienced ones wouldn't think of, and the experienced ones will help keep things moving when someone feels stumped!
