About Black Teostra

I'm a pretty cool laid-back guy I've been dming for like 8 years and I'm all about the concept of having fun and adventuring I love the role play not the best at it but I'm trying definitely not Matt Mercer so don't expect critical role is the game is only limited time imagination so we have fun and work together we can create an awesome world

I became a GM because

I became a GM because nobody else wanted to read the rulebook.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

“Devious, patient, snack-fueled.”

When I'm not running games I'm...

When I’m not running D&D games, I’m grinding XP in the food industry and side-questing with 3D prints

How Black Teostra runs games

I like an open world sandbox. I have built an entire world that goes on, I simply give the players options by letting them know what is out there, via rumors, reports, commisons offered by various groups, or tales heard in taverns or squares. But some groups don't respond to such options and need something more directed. Even in a open world I weave their backstories in, but if they are reluctant to set out on their own I pull a backstory or two the the forefront that much sooner.

I deal with rules issues by...

I stick to rules as written as much as possible, since they give us all a fair and balanced foundation to play from. That said, I also believe in the rule of cool—if a creative idea adds fun and excitement without breaking the game, I’ll usually allow it.

My games focus on...

Balance of Roleplay & Combat – Expect a mix of investigation, tense social encounters, and cinematic battles, with plenty of space for character development.

When it comes to voices

When it comes to character voices—I’ll be honest, I’m not Matt Mercer. 😅 But I do my best to give each NPC their own personality, tone, or quirk so they feel distinct. Sometimes it’ll be a full-on voice, sometimes just a shift in speech pattern, rhythm, or energy.

Black Teostra's ideal table

At my table, the focus is on collaborative storytelling, shared spotlight, and immersive fun. I run the rules as written but embrace the rule of cool when creativity makes a moment more exciting. The atmosphere is a blend of serious storytelling, cinematic combat, and moments of levity—players should feel free to roleplay deeply, crack jokes, or get dramatic when the story calls for it. Players Who Will Fit Well You’ll enjoy this table if you… Like teamwork and working together toward a shared goal. Enjoy roleplay and mystery as much as rolling dice. Can balance serious, immersive moments with humor and creativity. Want to support the group, making sure everyone gets their chance to shine. Embrace the unexpected twists that come with dice rolls, critical fails, and chaotic plans. The Vibe at the Table The vibe is friendly, supportive, and immersive. Think spooky mystery in a small village that builds into epic divine conflict—with plenty of space for laughs, clever problem-solving, and over-the-top heroics. My goal is for every player to walk away from each session feeling like their choices mattered and their character was part of the story’s heartbeat.

I am for a vibe that's...

I’m aiming for a game that feels like a mix of dark mystery, high heroism, and cinematic adventure. Think investigating eerie happenings in a quiet village, uncovering secrets that hint at something far greater, and then stepping into moments of epic combat where your choices matter.

I love it when a player

Gets Creative – Whether it’s a bold combat maneuver, a clever puzzle solution, or a dramatic roleplay moment, creativity makes the game unforgettable.

I think it's a red flag when players...

Hog the Spotlight – Everyone deserves time to shine, so I ask that players share the stage and celebrate each other’s moments. Ignore Boundaries – Crossing Lines & Veils, or dismissing safety tools, breaks trust at the table. Respecting comfort levels is non-negotiable.
