When I'm not running games I'm...

Working as a chef at 2 restaurants making all sorts of things from pasta to cakes to tartare. And if I'm not working, I'm either writing random one-shots, or playing video games (rn playing FF7 for the first time).

How Charles runs games

I have a lean towards the comedic and love deep world building alongside my players. I love working with players and their backstories to create parts of the world that are wholly their own. I'm also not afraid to allow my players their space in the sandbox, and am ready to let a player pull on whatever threads they want.

I once ran a session...

In which my players combined several spells to conjure a horse, attached a bomb to it's back, and teleported it into my BBEG camp. In 3 turns, my players have disassembled my entire next arc. And THAT is why I DM.

I prep by

I break my games into 'Arcs' and 'Acts'. For arcs, I plan immediate plot points and are usually location based. Acts follow plot points created by both me and my player/s. These tend to be backstory related plot points or large scale world events.

Charles's ideal table

My table is collaborative, welcoming, and story-driven. I enjoy running games where everyone has a chance to contribute, whether that's through roleplay, clever problem-solving, exploration, or combat. Session 0 is an important part of that process—we'll create characters together, establish party dynamics, and make sure everyone is on the same page before the adventure begins. The best fit for my table is someone who enjoys working as part of a team, respects their fellow players, and is excited to help tell a shared story. I encourage creativity and reward players who think outside the box, embracing the Rule of Cool when it makes for memorable moments while still using the rules as a solid foundation. Whether you're completely new to D&D or a seasoned player, you're welcome at my table. Above all, my goal is to create a relaxed, respectful environment where everyone feels comfortable, has opportunities to shine, and leaves each session excited for the next one.
