About Char
Hi there! I have been a game master for over thirteen years now. In that time, I have run games in a variety of different systems and genres, both online and in person. Getting to explore the ins and outs of a new system is a particular joy, one that is overtaken by being able to collaborate with players and work together to tell a story we'll all remember. I generally consider myself a bit of a mega nerd. A lot of my childhood was spent reading things like “Star Wars: the Essential Guide to Characters” and other such books, and when I began to delve into the internet, reading various fan run wikis. Lately, Doctor Who and Gundam have been by major nerd spheres of interest.

My favorite shows/movies are
My top five movies are The Way (2010), Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space, Logan, The Graduate, and Brazil. Top five shows would be Doctor Who, Iron Blooded Orphans, Better Call Saul, The Magicians, and Glow.
My favorite system of all Time is
Steel Hearts. For me personally, it scratches an itch that no other TTRPG does directly, and no other mecha TTRPG in general does at all.
How Char runs games
When it comes to GM’ing I put what my players want first. I try to create environments conducive to roleplay and improv, with the story general steered by my players and their goals and ideas. I always say I want my players to succeed because that’s the truth. I want them to do well, and come out on top. However, I do not necessarily want that to be easy at all times, not only mechanical wise, but also story wise.

I deal with rules issues by...
Making an immediate ruling then and there, and later checking the rules so as to not slow down the flow at the table. If my on the spot ruling is harsher toward the players than the actual rules, then I typically give some kind of benefit in game to the player (advantage in DnD 5e, for example).
Rules are...
One part of the crazy gestalt that creates stories at the table, with the other two parts being the GM and the players. In general, the rules are there to be followed, but generally not at the expense of total fun, or of the story.

I love it when a player
I love it when a player approaches me with their ideas, and wants to take some kind of stake in the world. Whether that be simply with who their character's family is, or more complex with how things work in the world, political structure, etc.
