About me
I have been a DM/GM for roughly 3-4 years now, and a player for 5 years. I still like to play as a player, but my biggest kick is to DM. I have run a D&D fully HomeBrewed world of the 3-4 years, with multiple parties, all the meanwhile, the world continues. I have only been able to hold a successful D&D fantasy world. Although I would love to try and hold a themed version. I love holding seasonal and events as well, between my first session as a Halloween session, but I have done Yule, Christmas, Easter, and a few odds and ends. I use https://www.dndbeyond.com for its consolidated information and simplicity, Discord for the communication and session holdings, and https://www.owlbear.rodeo for the map for the players to see the map of the world or the encounters. I would love to hold more sessions, for all new and veterans.
GM Style
(This may change or fluctuate) 1. I don't play unless I have the full party. The only exception is with the missing player allowing us to travel on with their character having the reason for their absence or if they join during an ongoing session. 2. I will not hold people accountable for their spell slots or spell required materials, as I believe this is a useless system that nerf's the PCs. There is no requirement for this in any of the other classes, and I don't want the Wizard to have to go punch the goblin. This does not mean you can continuously use the same spells, after the 2nd use, something bad will happen; a slow decrease of life source dropping current HP decreased hit roll making a chance for friendly fire, or accidentally casting wild magic. 3. I do however keep track of inventory and equipment, such as arrows or ball bearings. It will just make for more interesting combat if the Ranger has to use the sticks around them. 4. I use milestone, not XP, only because a lot of my monsters or NPC's are Home-brewed and don't have an XP counter. Milestone doesn't have to just be story-based either, it could be an aspiration the character insets to themselves, like overcoming a fear of not stepping on any cracks today! 5. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THE STORY** PC's have the freedom to go as they please or fight who they want. Do you want to have a dance battle with a bunch of sea-folk in the heat of battle, you can try. Do you want to tear up the brick road that leads to heavily fortified Dwarven city with guns, because the road looks pretty, you can try? 6. Your dice have the final say, mine does not, meaning unless I say you can reroll, whatever you roll is on you. I fudge my roles all the time to both help and to hurt the PCs, but most times it's out of fun. 7. I will not kill you, you will kill you. If you try to kill yourself, that is the only time I will intervene. IF you want a new character, you can make one whenever, but the former will remain in the world for either your future use or mine... 8. For any new characters or PCs, I do require a canon backstory in my world. The resources are supplied and you are more than welcome to DM me. If you are past lvl 10, I allow you to start with a magical item, so long as I approve. The backstory can take place anytime, if it is within 10 years of your current character's age, you might need some history involved. 9. Also to make the sessions smoother, I require you to use a mic. It could be on your computer or phone, so long as you can talk. I feel as though typing is slower and doesn't really bring the emotion you may have meant it to be. Also, a camera is not required, but you can use one if wanted. 10. As far as how the game is played, there is no guarantee that they will be weekly, as part of my 1st rule or other reasons. The sessions use Discord, D&D Beyond, and Owlbear Rodeo (Joining the Owlbear is optional, this is just to help both you and me during encounters or world maps for reference). Most times sessions are on Friday and start roughly around 7-8 MST (9-11 EST, 6-7 PST) but this can be negotiated with new players. You can expect from me that I will try to do a voice for EVERY NPC and enemy if you're lucky enough to talk before a stool is thrown at you.
