In my high school’s dnd club running improvised one shots for the people who were new or didn’t have enough people to run their normal group. After high school I began running more traditional campaigns but also stuck to my roots of making my own original stuff and reacting to player choices. 

Nobody else around me wanted to stand up to the task, so I did and learned as I went. That makes me a firm pioneer in the belief that anyone can be a GM, no matter your background or experience. 

where the players found the deck of many things and using it became the rightful owners of the Vampire’s Castle. They wanted to trap the Vampire outside so he would need to be invited in, and I went out of my way to make sure that ending they wanted and were hoping for could happen. 

I do voices for every character with a moderate amount of skill

Determining what would be the most fun for everyone involved and what will lead to the best memories of the session long after it is finished 

Can be very fun for players to do, and should be rewarded for player creativity and passion.
However, it crosses a line if the minmaxer begins telling other players how they should play/build their character, or complaining when another player behaves “unoptimally.”

finds a part of the game cool, because that lets me expand upon that character, location, faction, or item and tie it in to everything else, keeping them hooked and making the entire world more interesting. 

romance. If players are in a relationship and want to reflect that in game that is fine, but my table is not a place for you to pick up chicks. Anyone who makes others uncomfortable will be asked to stop, and if necessary, to leave. The comfort of all my players is my top priority. 

Anything psychological horror. I like slasher flicks but it’s stuff like Silence of the Lambs or Skinimarink that really get me excited. A lot of the horror I consume comes from the Creep Cast Podcast and recently I’ve started reading The King In Yellow

A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

In "Sandbox" or "Open World" games, players are given a tremendous amount of freedom to pursue their stories without the restrictions of a more linear game style. Players are encouraged to explore and engage with the world, and find their own story as they do so. These games offer the players the opportunity to help drive the narrative, and allow for the story to evolve organically through the choices they make.
