About Arri

I've been running Dungeons & Dragons for over six years across a range of formats — from character-driven narrative campaigns to combat-forward tactical sandboxes. My games are designed for players who want their choices to matter, whether that means shaping a living story or surviving a brutal dive into the unknown. Expect a table that takes the game seriously, responds to what you bring, and always has something worth coming back for.

I got started GMing...

After deciding to discontinue a podcast I was running with some friends called Old Books Podcast, one of my friends asked if we could try playing D&D. I slid into the DM role and never looked back.

My favorite books are

I love reading, so this list could go on for a long time. Some highlights are: Stormlight Archive, Dungeon Crawler Carl, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Don Quixote, Count of Monte Cristo, and many, many more.

My favorite shows/movies are

Too many to count, but I'll happily rewatch X-Files, Hannibal (TV show with Mads), Psycho Pass, Tokyo Ghoul, FMA Brotherhood, Avatar (anime), and others.

How Arri runs games

My GM style adapts to the game. - In narrative campaigns, I focus on storytelling, responsive worldbuilding, and making sure every character has a reason to care — their history, their relationships, and their choices all leave marks on the world around them. - In combat-focused games, I build encounters that are tactical, dangerous, and fair, where positioning, creativity, and smart play matter as much as what's on your character sheet. In any game I run, I love doing voices and accents for NPCs and encourage players to do the same when they're comfortable. At the end of the day, my goal is the same: a relaxed table where the game feels alive, your decisions have consequences, and everyone has a good time.

I deal with rules issues by...

I'll spend a moment or two looking something up, but it's not a quick thing. I'll work with the table to come to a solution that works for everyone, and then I'll provide clarity later on.

I prep by

It depends on the game. For published adventures, I dig into the source material first, then look for community insights. For original or sandbox content, I focus on building flexible encounters and environments that can respond to whatever the players decide to do.

When it comes to voices

I love doing accents and effects for my NPCs and such, and encourage players to do the same.

Arri's ideal table

I like to keep the atmosphere at the table casual and grounded. Jokes are welcome, always, but serious moments are respected, too.

Featured Prompts

I am for a vibe that's...

Casual, grounded, takes the game a little more seriously. People who make jokes all the time, constantly break immersion with out-of-game references, or generally revel in being goofy, won't have a good time here.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Horror, suspense, and gravity

I think min/maxing...

I use standard array for all my games to keep the table balanced. If you're looking to optimize heavily, my table probably isn't the right fit.
