About Anathema Kay
Oh, fancy seeing you here~! Whether you’re a newborn baby fawn in the world of TTRPGs, or a Battle-Hardened Adventurer, you’re welcome at my table. Who am I? Oh well, thank you for asking, disembodied voice from the void… I’m Ana~! I’ve been obsessed with Interactive Storytelling since the Critical Role event horizon back in 2015. Its Herculean grip has had me locked in a constant battle for my sanity for the better part of a decade. – Now you get to share in my escapist delusions too! 💃 I value a flexible and interactive playstyle. Roleplay is my bread and butter; see, the kind of meaningful stories we can make together, the kind of emotions we are able to capture and express in the moment, grasp at the root of what it is to experience life, what it is to be Human. I can’t get enough of it. Now, while I may feign exasperation with some of my players' more… “out-of-the-box solutions” to situations, I truly value creativity above all else and believe that player ingenuity should be rewarded. After all, these are not board games with set rules and rigid boundaries between what we "can" and "can't" do, despite what the rules lawyers’ propaganda will have you believe. See, I am of the radical group of DM’s who still believe players' enjoyment is the true purpose of why we do this crazy stuff. (Unless your enjoyment is fucking weird. No, you are NOT allowed to fuck the dragon, they’re 13x your size. You WILL DIE. Anyway…) I’ve had extensive experience as a dramatic Storyteller, playing in High-Roleplay Games with some of the best Dungeon Masters You’ll ever meet. I work with the team of RogueArcana™ DMs. They drive me to greater heights and to make more meaningful stories. I may still be new to the whole DMing side of things, but I’m no spring chicken. With me, you can rest easy, knowing you’re in good hands.

When I'm not running games I'm...
procrastinating and reading the Iliad. <3 Also listening to a ton of music. Daydreaming is how the scenes I plan for my players generate in my head. That and drinking a Ton of caffeine.
How Anathema Kay runs games
~Style~ Roleplay Style: Gimme the mic! I enjoy fairly in-depth roleplay complete with descriptions, in-character conversations, my attempt at voice acting and meaningful interactions influenced by backstories as well as current situations! Combat Style: While it is true I prefer peace to war, sometimes combat cannot be avoided. In those instances I trend towards helping my players create a fun and dynamic combat encounter! I like combat encounters to be creative and engaging over simply challenging for the sake of it. Don't underestimate me, however, I may be on your side but that doesn't mean the protagonists always win. World Immersion: A good game is only as good as it's world-building and I love having a ton of information at my disposal. Cultures, backstories, settings, etc. Just enough information to make worlds vibrant, grounded and believable, but with enough holes that players can also help influence the world as well! We all contribute a little bit of ourselves! Rule of Cool Style: I have a tendency to always be flexible when it comes to cool or funny ideas. Don't get me wrong, I will check anything that's too outlandish, but on the whole I'll always be looking to make my player's ideas come to life- no matter how "out there" they are! Rules OR Fun: Rules are important to the structure of any game, without them we would all be having a very elaborate make-believe session. However, that doesn't mean that rules are the be-all and end-all of games for me. I'll change rules if they cause problems or if I find them too limiting and some ideas are just too cool to not bend the rules on the rare occasion. Adult Content: Listen, we're all adults here, but that doesn't mean our characters are. In this game, since we are roleplaying as young adults, there will be hard limits set for "mature" behavior, which will change slowly as your character gets older. All boundaries are chosen with the goal in mind to be acceptable limitations for your characters age, without hindering player choices.
