About Adam

Hello All and Happy Gaming! My names Adam and I am 25 years old from Northern Ireland with 6 years GM experience! I started running a Westmarches Campaign to cure lockdown boredom as my first campaign which was a lot to have 9 players at the table but it helped me lean into my improv-first style of game. I have ran multiple TTRPG systems from big-hitters like DnD 5e to more indie games such as Household or Masks.

I got started GMing...

during COVID when my local gamestore closed down. During lockdown I started running a westmarches campaign that went from level 1 to 20 for 9 players which was a wild ride.

My favorite books are

the Dungeon Crawler Carl series which is an amazing Lit-RPG that reminds me of the rule of cool dm-style I try to emulate.

How Adam runs games

My GM style focuses more on improv than anything. I feel like being able to react to whatever my players want to do (even if it is bonkers) should come first over flowing them down a pre-ordained path. That doesn't mean I don't prep. I love crafting worlds and sandboxes to let characters loose in and also focusing on player backstory and integrating it into plots. I try my best with Character voices but not promising Voice acting level quality.

I deal with rules issues by...

letting whatever is the coolest in the moment happen. I would check after what the official rule is but happy to homebrew based on what is fun and dramatic.

I prep by

heavily modifying pre-written adventures to fit character backstories.

My games focus on...

comedy and vibes. My games are light-hearted but with serious turns for climactic story beats and fights. I like to keep players on their toes.

Adam's ideal table

My table is usually between 4-6 players and welcome all from experienced to new players. I do accept and enjoy min-maxing at the table but be prepared for an equal challenge. Characters who are allied with the party (Looking at you brooding rogue in the corner of the tavern...) and have backstories will have the most fun, as I always aim to make the players the main character of their story.

Featured Prompts

I love it when a player

has a dialogue with me in the process of building their character. The more insight to character creation, the better I know whats important to the character and player.

I think metagaming...

is ok in terms of combat and fun. But not when it is used as a tool to take away from other characters agency.

I think min/maxing...

is fun and can lead to good story telling if backstory is interwoven with mechanical optimisation.
