About Adam Wright

I am an independent TTRPG author and freelance writer with a deep passion for crafting immersive, character-driven stories. My work in the industry includes writing Pathfinder Society Scenario #7-16: A Star’s Journey for Paizo, as well as publishing independent adventures for Call of Cthulhu and Dungeons & Dragons under their community created content programs. When I’m not at the table, I analyze the mechanics and narratives of the hobby on my Substack, Insight Check. This background as a creator and analyst allows me to bring a high level of intentionality to every session, ensuring the pacing and atmosphere are always dialed in. I believe there is a seat for everyone in this hobby, and I enjoy tailoring my games to the players' needs: All-Ages Adventures: I offer engaging, heroic sessions in D&D, Pathfinder, 7th Sea, and the Marvel Multiverse RPG ideal for kids, families, and adults. Mature Horror (18+): I specialize in the atmospheric and the eerie, running systems like Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Masquerade, Alien, and Cyberpunk for adult groups looking for a grittier experience. My goal is to help you inhabit a character you believe in within a world that feels alive. Whether you're a first-time player or a seasoned veteran, I look forward to creatinga story with you.

I became a GM because

I love storytelling. Whether it is a written story, a film, a radio drama, a comic book or any other medium, what binds us together as humans is storytelling. And I have found that one of the greatest types of storytelling is the shared narrative you can only find in tabletop roleplaying games.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Call of Cthulhu, Dungeons & Dragons & Cyberpunk RED

My favorite system of all Time is

Call of Cthulhu 7th edition

How Adam Wright runs games

I am a narrative-first GM who believes rules should support the story, never stall it. At my table, the focus is on immersive atmosphere and high-stakes storytelling. You won’t find a requirement for voices or accents here (I don't do them either!); instead, I focus on evocative descriptions and shared storytelling where every player has a hand in crafting the epic. Whether we are navigating the moody psychological horror of Call of Cthulhu, the swashbuckling heroism of 7th Sea, or the high-octane action of the Marvel Multiverse RPG, I prioritize character agency and a cohesive table feel. For D&D and Pathfinder, I work with the group to ensure we’re all playing the specific flavor of fantasy you're looking for. My games welcome both veterans and newcomers. I use a robust safety toolkit using Lines and Veils and the X-Card to ensure that while the stakes are high, the players are always safe. If we’re all leaning into the story and having fun, we’re winning.

My games focus on...

An immersive atmosphere with a strong emphasis on telling a collaborative story. We'll use the rules to build on narratives that everyone at the table wants to tell. If you love stories and are willing to get into the atmosphere, you'll have a great time at my table. No voices necessary!

Rules are...

Great guidelines to have. But they are just that, guidelines. We'll stick to rules as much as we can but if the rules get in the way I may improvise on a ruling so we can keep gameplay moving forward. And sometimes, if you come up with something awesome enough, I'll let you do it either way.

When it comes to voices

If you love that sort of thing that is great. I'm not particularly good at doing voices so you shouldn't feel pressured to use them at my table. If you want to, I have no objections. It's just as valid to tell me what type of voice/accent your character has as it is to mimic one yourself.
