About Alex
Hi! I'm Alex, a queer, bearded nerdy storyteller who loves playing TTRPGS, writing TTRPGS, collecting old TTRPGS, being near TTRPGS. I'm a Rule of Cool GM but remember, dumb choices will likely lead to dumb consequences. I run weekly evening games of 5e, Blades in the Dark and Call of Cthulhu in real life but want to run more so decided to jump on here to see if more peeps want to start playing games! (See what I did there?) Talk soon đ

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Call of Cthulhu Blades in the Dark Something I haven't read or played before
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Fun Adaptive Holding on for dear life
When I'm not running games I'm...
Writing more lore for my homebrew world, playing with my dogs, watching Pro Wrestling and F1, working out, basically anything to avoid dwelling on... you know... the horrors
How Alex runs games
I love roleplay scenes, I have some silly voices and I'm so willing to bend the rules if you can convince me that its going to be either awesome if you succeed or hilarious if you fail.

I deal with rules issues by...
Making a call in the moment if I'm not sure, then checking and clarifying later. Better to keep the game moving than to lose 10 minutes trying to find an obscure rule.
I prep by
Knowing the world my players are in, what the "baddies" are doing, and the story hooks I'm planning to introduce, then I hope we get anywhere there.
When it comes to voices
I love to use them for NPCs and charitably you could say I do my best đ
Alex's ideal table
My tables are story driven (both for the party and for individual characters) so Players that want to engage with the world and the events within it, will get alot out of my games. I love teaching new players to a system, but also have a great time playing with people who've been playing for years. We have fun and joke around, but I do try to get people back on track so that we all feel like we achieved something in a session.

I am for a vibe that's...
A combination of big laughs, dumb puns and "Oh No!" moments.
I love it when a player
Comes up with a harebrained scheme or crazy use of a skill that I haven't heard before. Particularly if there is a risk of it going epically well or hilariously wrong.
I think metagaming...
Is pretty lame. Just because you know something, doesn't mean your character does. Dont be lame, play within the bounds of your characters knowledge.
