About me

Adventure Factory is a Role Playing Game studio in Portland, Oregon. Founded by David Perry in 2022, Adventure Factory is working to advance the art of RPGs, with an emphasis on education. Adventure Factory provides welcoming opportunities for new players to learn the basics, experienced players to dig deeper into the craft, or for Dungeon Masters to build their skills. We have run games for corporate team building events, bachelor/ette parties, families learning to play together, summer camps, birthday parties, and more. We also create bespoke furniture and decor for gamers looking to upgrade their game room or tabletop setup. David Perry has over three decades of experience as a Dungeon Master, starting as kid with 2nd Ed. He has taught hundreds of youth and adults how to play in afterschool programs, private sessions, and larger events. David holds a B.A. in Humanities and Studio Arts from Stonehill College in 1999 and received his Masters of Education from Lesley University in 2006. His Master's Thesis explored the use of arts integrated RPGs like Dungeon's & Dragons in informal education settings, with a particular focus on their ability to build inter- and intra-personal intelligence.

GM style

My primary goal is to make sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable at the table. I create a collaborative space where all players can contribute to memorable experiences. This is always true, but especially in Learn-To-Play games I use a range of multimedia props to create the game environment, from simple voice characterizations to complex terrain. I play a rules light game to keep the pace moving, but also enjoy running highly tactical combat scenarios. I enjoy giving players new twists on encounters that surprise and challenge them.
