About Mr. Apocalypse
I picked up D&D at age eleven with the 1977 Blue Box, have explored other of RPG systems since, and have GMed over the years. Recently, I dove deep into Daggerheart’s narrative rules and fell in love with how it empowers both players and GM to co-create cinematic, story-driven moments. I can’t wait to share Daggerheart adventures with you.

I got started GMing...
I was 11 years old when I was in the B Dalton bookstore (back when there were small bookstores in malls) and saw the first blue box starter set for Dungeons and Dragons. I went home and consumed it. By the following week, I had a wizard drafted up to play at a local teacher supply store in Houston.
How Mr. Apocalypse runs games
I like a balanced game between world building, combat, role playing and exploration. However, I'd say story is first and foremost to give characters motive and invite them into an immersive world. I feel I have creative concepts that set my sessions apart from merely throwing monsters at a party. Allowing players to live out the fantasy of being in an alternative world where they get to act differently and respond with skill and power is what it is all about. When it action I try to spice things up with traps and environmental effects that surprise and challenge players that crave tactical decision making. I'm not a trained voice actor but I do enjoy crafting NPCs that are different, devious or delightful. I am fair and inclusive--mindful of other feelings though we are playing a game. All in all, I see it my task to make sure everyone at the table is enjoying themselves.

I prep by
I'm a planner. I like doing prep to create a rich world for the players to inhabit. However, I try to accommodate as much improv as possible. I want my players to feel immersed in the world through spoken word and even sound. I've been experimenting with sound effects as well as background music.
Mr. Apocalypse's ideal table
I am looking for a relaxed vibe that is inclusive and a pleasure for people to engage in play. All experience is welcome from beginner to expert. I will try to accommodate everyone. Rule number is have fun. That's why we are here. I look forward to engaging with the characters my players come up with for this bit of theater I hope to present.

My perfect party mix is
I'm flexible. I think people should bring to the table what they want to play. That said a balanced party with tank, healer and magic is probably the safe choice. But I welcome any variety of party composition and will adjust to what every people want to play with.
