About Shard
Hello--I'm Shard, I've been playing and GMing D&D 45+ years, throughout every version of the game from Basic on up. It was a love affair from the start! I ran and played in hundreds of ttrpg games, some campaigns lasting decades, all around a literal big table with battlemaps, paper sheets and real dice. But the world keeps turning, things change, and online gaming has become the new normal. It's an exciting time to be a gamer, when you can sample everyone's style and find your best fit. Is my style a good fit for you? Let's try it and see!

I became a GM because
I was so immersed in playing and roleplaying my own characters that I wanted to bring that same joy to others, all while creating my own game worlds and NPC's to bring to the table. 40 years later and I'm still at it!
My favorite shows/movies are
Conan, 13th Warrior, Highlander, Rocky I - IV, Red Sonja, ...well you get the idea! I've always liked (and empathized with) the hero and the hero's journey, and I try to bring some of that into my games.
How Shard runs games
I try for a nice balance of roleplay and combat, with a decent pace and some gritty realism mixed with occasional humor. I will endeavor to challenge you, amuse you, and leave you with stories to tell around the table. I use dynamic lighting, ambient music for atmosphere, custom tokens, and endeavor for an immersive experience. Come join me!

If my games were movies they'd probably be directed by a little bit of Quentin Tarantino and a little Michael Crichton. Maybe a tad bit Peter Jackson. :)
My games focus on...
A balance of tactical combat, roleplay, and exploration to get you where you need to be.
Shard's ideal table
As a player who grew up in the 80's and played D&D from the start, I bring some of that old school mentality to my table to go along with the "new school" rules of today. I appreciate players who are chill, invested in their characters and the game, and who play well with others without needing to grandstand or steal the show. Courtesy is paramount and respect is a must. If that's you, please join me!

I love it when a player
gets into their character's head and acts according to their nature, which is not necessarily in the best interests of that character, but it is what they would do. It helps breathe life and realism into the character and the world they live in.
