About Wayne O
Im an illustrator, educator and storyteller from Ireland. In those roles i have contributed art to several games and books, teach workshops in creative areas such as art and writing and then also travel extensively telling myth and folklore stories from around the world. All the above interests stemmed from discovering RPGs as a kid. Role-playing games allow me to channel all the above interests and with over 40 years of experience in countless systems i have honed a style of gamesmastering that is fun, propulsive and action packed. Im a relatively easy going GM and the rules are very much a hook on which to build fun sessions and memories. In my education work i have also ran rpgs for beginners as i have always been keen to highlight the benefits of this amazing hobby as doorway to improving social, creative, literacy and numerical skills. So i have no problem guiding new players through the various games and systems i run. Overall, im here to share my skillsets, network and make new friends. But also to make new exciting stories together. If any of the above appeals or sounds like a good fit for your own playstyle or interests, just drop me a line. (The image in my avatar is from a fun night performing passages onstage from the Lord of the Rings)

I became a GM because
i love storytelling. RPGS give me the chance to create new worlds, characters and entertain people with the power of imagination.
My favorite shows/movies are
The Lord of the Rings (both Book and Films) and the Indiana Jones series, Star Trek, Breaking Bad, The X-files...
When I'm not running games I'm...
Creating art, playing or writing music, storytelling in schools and libraries and writing, Watching films or playing tabletop games. Plus i run my local Games Society and promote gaming as much as i can :)
How Wayne O runs games
My strengths lie in story focused games with propulsive action scenes and plotting that is all delivered with a sense of humor and desire to make sure everyone has fun. I'm not a rules lawyer and view them primarily as something on which to hold a story and game balance. I love role-playing NPCs and allowing players room to role-play also. Overall I'm a very relaxed GM who will suit players who have a similar approach. It is important to me that the group is inclusive and welcoming to all. Everyone is entitled to an opportunity to enjoy this hobby in a supportive and inclusive environment. Please be aware of your biases and check them at the door. Real world prejudice will not be accepted in any group hosted by me. Feel free to reach out if you have a group / would like to start a group and are looking for a GM - I'm open to run pretty much anything I have experience with (non-exhaustive list below, I own the rules to most of those systems in hard copy or digital and if I don't own a copy I'll pick them up). Let's have some fun!!

I deal with rules issues by...
trying find a equatable compromise during the game and clarifying such rule issues out of game.
Rules are...
there to support a story.
Wayne O's ideal table
Overall, i like a relaxed and friendly group of players who are there to enjoy a story together. Generally the tone of my games leans away from anything too silly, i try to find something that respects the designers setting and approach. Roleplay is encouraged but not essential, all within peoples comfort zones. I also have a lot of experience coaching new players into games through my skillset teaching educational workshops.

I think min/maxing...
isnt generally my thing. Simply create a fun character, flaws and all. Its not about the best scores, its about the best type of stories and moments a character can grant you at the table.
My perfect party mix is
those who like a bit of a laugh but let the game flow, those who like propulsive action scenes where actions are bouncing off each other in a scene creating a domino like effect of action beats and players who aren't going to want to argue out a rules query for ages at the expense of the games pace.
My table is not the place for...
Rules lawyers. I play by the rules but im not going to fuss over them if im unsure of something. Ill make a decision that benefits the whole game as best as possible, we keep things moving and we can chat it over after the game.
