About the adventure

The age of heroes is dead, and the bridge to glory is broken—Bifrost fell long ago. The world is lost in an age of war, of dark wilderness and lost empires sunk beneath the waves. Only magic and the warmth of hope keep lights aglow. The omens are dire. The roads to the shadow realm are open again, and the fey have returned to claim their ancient tribute. In the north giants prepare for Ragnarok, while the goblins in the west grow restless. In the Crossroads, the shadow of the vampire princes falls across the land. The World Serpent is stirring - and not even the all-knowing Baba Yaga can say what will happen next. In this dark time, heroes must arise to claim the crowns of Midgard and restore the jewels to her scattered thrones. New heroes must lead a return to glory! Midgard, published by Kobold Press, is a masterpiece of a world, steeped in flavor. It's still D&D, with all the same rules - and more! New races, new class options, and foes and monsters the likes of which you've never seen. It's whimsical - there are Bearfolk, and a Beer god and domain, so with enough status, you can be a Bear Beer Bishop. It's terrifying - the Empire of Ghouls is an entire nation based on hunger, and it's growing. It's whimsically terrifying - When the Fey Court demands to know why you interfered with a legitimate assassination, you might answer in watercolour, in dark chocolate, or in the key of C minor. Choose wisely. In this campaign, we'll go from beginning adventurers to (if the Gods favor us) movers and shakers in the world of Midgard. Gameplay details

Parts of this campaign will come from published works - with over 170 Midgard adventures in print, these are great resources. Stringing them together will be homebrew content, and the plots and goals you develop as you become familiar with the world. Action will be rewarded; "do something, even if it's wrong" is good advice for this game. Time will pass and the world will change, with or without your actions. Gaining status may unlock new resources - but as it protects you from some risks, it opens you up to others. My table is open and welcoming to everyone. People of different ages, playing experience, genders, identities, and ways of processing information may be present; deal with it and be kind. Your CHARACTERS will experience rage, sorrow and terror, but YOU should always be comfortable. If any content or behavior is making you uncomfortable, you can whisper me in FG text chat - a "X" is enough - and I'll steer it another direction.

How will character creation work

Characters can be created in my intro session, "The Impenetrable Fortress of Dib", offered separately. Or, you can choose from a stable of prebuilt characters. Or, you can tell me AT LEAST 24 HOURS BEFORE THE GAME what class, race, and background you want, and I will build it for you. Ask me on Discord for a list of available classes, races and backgrounds. If you're joining this campaign in progress, you'll start at the appropriate level.
