About the adventure

In the course of this adventure, you’ll face an evil alliance intent on unleashing a draconic apocalypse upon Faerûn. The Cult of the Dragon, the Red Wizards of Thay, and a conspiracy of other villains plot to reshape the world, making it ready for the coming of Tiamat. As events unfold, dragons rampage across the Sword Coast, serving at the vanguard of a legion of cultists, fiends, and worse. To oppose these forces, new heroes must rise and resist them—yet they need not do so alone. Groups like the Harpers, the Lord’s Alliance, and even the wicked Zhentarim might be rallied to oppose the Cult of the Dragon, but only if clever souls convince them to put aside their age-old rivalries. Will the people of the Realms stand and oppose the forces of dragonkind, or will they fall amid waves of dragon breath? Designed for characters starting at 1st level and going through 15th level (and likely beyond), Tyranny of Dragons is an epic campaign that will test your skills as a player.

How to prepare

For gameplay, you'll need a webcam and mic (your default phone or computer cam and mic are fine) as well as Discord, which will host our voice/video/text. I understand that some people prefer to not to use video, so if that's you, I'm totally fine with that. We'll be using a mix of theater of the mind as well as Roll20 maps for encounters. Please provide your own method for rolling dice. For creating characters, you'll need to use D&D Beyond to create a digital character sheet. However, I will be able to share paid D&D Beyond content with you in advance to broaden your character building options. Once you have this digital character sheet, you can use it to keep track of spells, abilities, items, and gold. If you have a Player's Handbook and any other books, feel free to have them with you for reference, but they won't be necessary. And have something to take notes in case there are things you want to remember from session to session.

What I provide

I will provide all players with paid content from D&D Beyond to create character sheets in advance. I'll also provide information about getting set up in Discord and Roll20 if you require assistance.

Gameplay details

To help ensure that every player is comfortable and having a great time as we traverse the adventure, I'll be setting lines and veils prior to the start of gameplay with each player to ensure maximum comfort. These lines and veils will inform gameplay and ensure the ability to "fade to black" whenever needed. During the session, we'll be employing X, N, and O signals in chat as needed. We'll also be ending each session with a chance to discuss the game session and ensure fun and engaging future sessions.

How will character creation work

During the first game session, we will kick things off with a brief session zero where players can select their character and form a cohesive unit before jumping into the story. Any races, backgrounds, and subclasses from officially published Wizards of the Coast 5e source books or adventures are acceptable. I can also provide pre-designed character sheets for anyone who needs them.
