About the adventure

"We feel the pain of a lifetime lost in a thousand days. Through the fire and the flames, we carry on" - Force, Dragon If you played the first part of this module and your group fell apart, or if you are simply interested in the Avernus portion of Descent Into Avernus, this is for you! We skip the peasantries and jump into the fires of the Nine Hells! Make your mark in the tale of two cities: Elturel and Baldur's Gate. 💥- The holy city of Elturel is overtaken by hellish forces — and Baldur's Gate may be next! 🔪- Mysterious murders decimate the weak and vulnerable. 😈- The forces of Hell triumph unless you put a stop to their plans! In this adventure, you can expect to: 🔥Leave your mark on the eternal struggle between good and evil. 🔥Investigate murders and evil cults in the two of the most iconic cities of the Forgotten Realms! 🔥Stop the workings of corrupt nobility and Cultists! 🔥Stand up — for yourself, for what is right, or for others, or all shall perish! This entire campaign (parts 1 and 2) goes from levels 3 to 15 taking between 45 to 55 weekly sessions to conclude. I have split the module in two distinct parts. This game encompasses part 1 in which we play from levels 3 to 8 in the cities of Elturel and Baldur's Gate. This campaign arc has a satisfactory conclusion but also leaves plenty of room for a seamless continuation all the way to the end of this module!

What I provide

Foundry VTT license, hosted on a cloud (you open it on your internet browser), running very light and smooth while configured with an expansive set of modules, including spell animations, robust automation for combat and many other functionalities. Beautiul maps, set up with walls and dynamic lighting. Proper soundtracks to set the mood and beautiful art as handouts to inspire your imagination!

Gameplay details

Players can expect a dark fantasy adventure, with plenty of exploration and focus on narrative. A good balance between Exploration, RP and combat. Themes involve: cults, religions (fantasy), dark rites, murder, conspiracies, hell, demons and devils, profane iconography and magic, evil creatures, corruption, celestials, sin, forgiveness, redemption. I do my best to ensure that none of these topics are overly gratuitous in their presentation or needlessly gruesome in detail. The purpose of tabletop roleplaying games is to have fun experiencing a unique adventure and story together as a collaborative storytelling experience. We will be doing a session zero before beginning the adventure, and I can easily modify descriptions or scenarios as appropriate to avoid content that the party might be uncomfortable with. I use the X-Card safety tool to make sure everyone is safe and having a positive experience during the game. X-Card was created by John Stavropoulos (http://tinyurl.com/x-card-rpg). I have a module in Foundry VTT that makes the use of the safety tools easy and anonymous! While this is an official D&D module is HIGHLY customized. I am using several sources of material from the web, some free, others acquired at the DM's guild. I have heavily incremented the module, including completely re-writing major parts of the story and background surrounding it so it would make better sense. While I maintain character names, art and locations, almost all of it has been re-purposed. There will be high-quality maps in the VTT (made on Dungeondraft) which are not featured in the original book at all, as well as several from the book but with better, more elaborate art. I have also bought many side-content related to this campaign in the form of PDFs and additional maps, so I am able to fill out certain parts of the game and provide options to various types of players. The modified content features additional magic items as well as extra backgrounds, beyond the ones in the original module book. This is a HEAVILY ENHANCED experience of the Descent into Avernus module, which I considered to be necessary for this book to be enjoyable.

How will character creation work

Characters should be level 5, race, background and class should be from the Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tashas Cauldron of Everything (except for Clerics of Twilight or Peace domains) and Monsters of the Multiverse. Feats are allowed, HP is average, optional class rules from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything are allowed, except for custom lineage. You can still customize your origin in an existing race and swap racial bonuses. Please check the source of any spells and feats to make sure they are from one of those sources above. Spells and feats coming from other sources will not be allowed. You start with your initial class and background equipment, plus 500gp to get additional mundane gear and two Uncommon magic items. (if you are joining mid-campaign you get extra equipment or magical items to bring you into an equal level with the rest of the group).
