About the adventure
Ahoy! Welcome to a short roleplay-focused, player driven, privateering adventure. All levels of experience are welcome. We'll be starting at level 5 using milestone leveling, and will be running a session 0 to build characters and fit them into the homebrewed world. Speaking of which... ☠️🩸😱 In the shadows of ruins, jungles, and empire, pirates compete for glory and gold. Many an adventurer has risen to greatness on the waves of the Beloron sea, and you had hoped to do the same. Unfortunately, you are the crew of the Chimera, a ship that attracts misfortune like a man dressed in copper armour in a thunderstorm screaming "all the gods are bastards" on a bare hilltop attracts lightning. You did not have many options. In an effort to stay afloat, the Chimera has been commissioned by the reclusive Lord Lindholm to resolve a pirate problem. Raiders have been pillaging the supply lines to his territory, interrupting not only the livelihood of his people but also his personal alchemical research. Especially troubling, given the ongoing centuries-long war. Succeed, and you will be rewarded with treasure, great favour, and the possibility of further work. Fail, and enchanted pirates will be the least of your worries. May Hades have mercy on your journey...
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare
Before session 0, all you need is a webcam, a mic, a discord account, and somewhere to create your character - a paper sheet, dnd beyond, up to you. Before session 1, you'll need a roll20 account, an image for your character token, and some understanding of at least the rules that pertain directly to your character (their race, class and background for example).
What I provide
☠️I encourage in-character roleplaying, reward creative choices, and make sure player choice has a big impact on the plot. Expect an engaging story that you have a say in - give me a backstory with a couple of colourful characters in it, and they'll more than likely crop up somewhere in the adventure. 🩸I run the game on Discord for speaking and Roll20 for combat. ☠️I make liberal use of in-character dialogue and encourage players to do the same. I also encourage players to argue their cases for things like unorthodox skill checks, however ask that they respect my final ruling. 🩸I use background music for those who want it, but one of the reasons I run games on discord is that it can be turned down or off individually. I can supply pdfs of all core rulebooks and some snazzy character sheets. ☠️And, finally, I'm a professional voice actor, so expect high-quality narration in terms of both content and sound quality - check my DM profile's Youtube link for some sample narration!
Gameplay details
Session 0 will involve character creation, and a discussion of any triggers players might have for one's own character and the game in general. The game itself will largely be story driven, but that doesn't mean you won't have think tactically and rely on your companions when you do get into combat. Fun is what we're all here for, and sometimes nothing is more fun than a well-applied fireball.

How will character creation work
The crew of the Chimera are down on their luck and looking to turn it around - wanted fugitives, disgraced priests, exiled nobles, underfunded wizards, and ambitious swashbucklers could all find themselves involved in this adventure. We'll be starting at Level 5, using roll4drop1 stats and milestone leveling. All WOTC official expansions are fine with the following exceptions, mostly for lore reasons: No Duergar No Guns and Gunpowder (artificers are fine if flavoured away from this) Most reasonable homebrew is fine, but run it by me first before hinging your entire character on it. We will also be running a session 0 to go further into character creation and help anyone who needs it to get their head around the numbers. Feel free to message me with any questions :)
