Theros: Bestiary of Legends - A Beginner's Guide to D&D + Theros

About the adventure

The Greek inspired Gods of Theros have reached a crescendo of scheming amongst one another. Each new sentient humanoid becomes a new game piece to thwart or extend the Gods' influence. The balance of cosmic powers is about to tip and the first Apex God will be crowned. The only question is, who will reign supreme? Will you cement your God's position and power, be satisfied with undermining your God's antithesis, or spurn them all together and rise to power yourself? You and your companions, regardless of class, will associate yourself with a God (or disavow Gods entirely). You will adventure, explore, role play, and battle through the world of Theros and shape it to the will of of your future vision. Do you stand for glory, justice, law, wild nature, unruly seas, unbridled creation, or the cosmic order? Join your fellow companions in Theros to determine just how this overture of deities plays out.

How to prepare

Webcam, headphones, and mic are required. As mentioned previously, a session zero for character creation is a required step. Each player will need to have a 1x1 session with me to explain their character so I can weave them into the story. You will need an account on dndbeyond.com and I will share a link with you to join the campaign. I own all the books on there and that will house the information for your character. There is a free dice rolling system on D&D Beyond and if you do not yet have dice you are welcome to use that. If you prefer physical dice (like I do) then you will be on the honor system for how your dice rolls go. You will also need a Discord account that is set up with your sound preferences. A Foundry VTT account will also be required for the map system.

What I provide

Safety Tools, Foundry VTT as the digital platform we'll be playing on, I bring all the books & content on D&D Beyond, several subscriptions for maps and content, and a continual promise to improve my craft each week. I pay for these things so that you don't have to.

Gameplay details

CONTENT WARNING: Some foul language as is relevant to a PC's or NPC's personality or from players just talking - not too much though. Occasionally gory finishing moves described. No sex, no drugs, no torture, or other purposefully graphic and traumatizing imagery as best as we can. This game will adapt itself to the experience level and preferred playstyle of the group. If you and your fellow gamers enjoy loads of combat, leveling up, and treasure then no problem. Baddies and gold will abound! If you want to reach deep into the backgrounds and stories of yourself and fellow adventurers then we can go down that route too. If you enjoy new locations and exploring imaginative and creative worlds and cultures, that is easily done. Like a combo of all of these? That's my bread and butter and I'm happy to oblige.

How will character creation work

I typically start off with a session zero where I convey basic knowledge about the world and get a sense of what roles individual players want to hold in the group. In this session I can help with character creation for players of any level. If the players are more experienced, then session zero can be skipped and players can bring in their characters from the get go. dndbeyond.com will be the platform where we house our character information. You are welcome to print off a physical copy if that is your preference.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
