About the adventure

In a small college town on the edge of some American wilderness strange things are happening. Disappearances, murders, and strange fantastic phenomena are regularly occurring. When you step into this sleepy town it seems normal on the surface, but the town holds many secrets. Which ones will you uncover? How will you help this town as it stands as a battle ground between regular life and something more sinister trying to bleed it's way into the world at large. And how will you manage the Monster of the Week?

How to prepare

🎀/🎧 Discord and Microphone/Headset: Voice is required. We will use Discord for voice. I highly recommend the app over the in-browser option. It tends to run way better from the app. A mic/headset, while not required, reduces outside noise and offers a better experience for the other players and the DM. 🌐Reliable Internet Connection: You will be running a Virtual Table Top (maps and other handouts will appear and be of use on your screen), Discord, and D&D Beyond at the same time. Additionally you may be opening other web pages to look at spells and skills rules. It is essential we are able to communicate effectively and you can use all the tools we provide. πŸ“Learn the Character Sheet While I will help with this, you can help yourself by understanding your skills, features and traits. Remember there is a difference between what the character knows and what the player knows. You can close that gap by understanding what the Characters can do. It may not be a character you use in the game But I highly recommending using the Roll20 tools to build your own character to get a sense for how it will work together. What I provide

I will bring a fun and patient attitude. We will learn together. The mechanics are simple and made easier on Roll 20. However, there is not a ton of rolling of dice. More so you are looking to solve a mystery. I will help you with that. The problems in Handfast don't stand a chance if you take a chance with me.

Gameplay details

We will be using the XNO tools available from Roll 20. Additionally, I really like the Open Door policy. "Pause for a Minute" Allows players and the GM to take a short break to sort out feelings and discuss Lines and Veils of any undesired triggering content. Monster of the Week looks at the poking and prodding of individuals to discover secrets, some of those secrets can be unpleasant. I as a GM will not go too far, there is a lot of unpleasantewness to games of this type.

How will character creation work

I will have characters available for anyone joining last minute or short on time. Otherwise Character creation will occur through Roll 20. There will also be some things that players will come up with on the fly. This game is a lot of fun. Come ready for an investigation. Think of how a group of characters work in a weekly show like "Charmed", "Buffy", or "Supernatural". This is your opportunity to have a Ghostbuster and a Paranormal Investigator and Constantine all moving in the same direction. Mulder and Scully? This game adapts that well. Men in Black with Monsters? Yes. Want to be a quiet librarian who is ready to exercise their knowledge after something in their small town? Yes this game is for you.
