About the adventure

Jason Batt's Storm King's Thunder focuses on a combination of roleplay and action along with deep puzzle-solving in a truly open-world experience. As an involved GM, I am focused on creating an immersive game designed around my player's natural way of playing. Fun is the priority--achieved through challenging scenarios that require both ingenuity and team-work. Storm King's Thunder explores some of the oldest lore in Faerun--utilizing aspects of real-world mythologies, Batt expands the story to provide a one-of-a-kind experience. Even if you've ran SKT before, this run will surprise you. This SKT campaign will focus on two to three hour sessions that begin with general introduction, recap of the following week, and then diving straight into play. Each session will end to allow fifteen minutes of recap and discussion to aid in further orientation of the gameplay style to the player's needs. Content will be mixed from slaying monsters, puzzle solving, and exploring. Players will be encouraged to coordinate and plan and make long-term decisions within the actual game. There will be moments of violence and nerve-wracking, time-based challenges. All content types will be discussed with players beforehand to ensure that nothing violates personal boundaries.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Players will need a mic. Webcam is preferred but not required. Players will need to create characters between session 0 and session 1. Players will only need a browser for access to Foundry VTT and Discord. All character sheets can be accessed on D&D Beyond.

What I provide

I bring full access to Foundry VTT and D&D Beyond. Players will receive a weekly recap of their adventures to provide a full written narrative of their adventures.

Gameplay details

A general content warning for Violence, Death, Swearing, Alcohol, and Mild Sexual Language applies to all campaigns GM'd by Jason Batt. A session zero will provide a survey for players to note content they view as undesirable so as to sculpt the general play in future sessions. At all times, players have the option to call a time-out, reference undesirable content without having to justify their concerns, and allow for the story to be adjusted and move ahead with general play.

How will character creation work

All characters should be created in D&D Beyond. I provide access to all D&D content for my players. Characters should be created between session 0 and session 1. I am available to assist in character creation and reflection on overall team dynamics.
