About the adventure

In the center of the largest lake in the country is a mountainous mass of stone known as Riptide Island that magically floats on the surface of the water. This island is referred to synonymously with the city that sits atop it; an urban utopia founded by and for amphibious creatures. However, something has disturbed the magical statue that keeps Riptide Island afloat. The city's best artificers and then soldiers were dispatched to the island's underwater core to look into the matter, but none returned alive. You have been hired to neutralize whatever is threatening the statue before the entire island collapses into the depths below. This one-shot will include some light roleplay and investigation before an underwater combat. This one-shot takes place in my homebrew setting called Elementia. It exists in the same plane of existence as the forgotten realms and the sword coast, but is far away across hundreds of miles of ocean. Therefore, the gods, creatures, and other basic lore is all the same, but the culture and history are different.

How to prepare

Prior to the game, each player should have the following: -A completed character sheet (level 9) in my DnDBeyond campaign. -A computer. -Functional headphones, a microphone, and a camera all connected to your computer and ready to use. -The Zoom app downloaded and ready to use on their computer. -A reliable internet connection. -An idea for how to introduce/describe your character to the other players. -A picture to represent your character. Prior to the game, please send me: -A picture to represent your character. -Your character's pronouns. Shortly before the session’s start time, I will send all players a zoom link for us to connect via video call.

What I provide

For the game, I will provide: -Use of my DnDBeyond campaign with access to all the sourcebooks (with the exception of any recent publications). -A detailed world and story to take part in. -Detailed, custom-made maps. -Voice acting of various unique characters. -An inclusive and welcoming attitude 😀

Gameplay details

Prior to beginning the game, we will discuss the open door safety policy, when we will take breaks, and we will confirm that everyone knows the X/N/O symbols and how to use them. I ask that everyone hold up their arms or hands on camera as the X/N/O symbols, but if that does not work for anyone, we can easily find another method. Throughout the session, I will share my photoshop window with you via Zoom. This is how you will see battle maps, character pictures, and other game-related content. It's not unlike other VTTs except I have to control everyone's tokens for them.

How will character creation work

Players will create level 9 characters on DnDBeyond.com. For any new/beginner players, I am happy to schedule extra one-on-one time to go over how to make a character sheet prior to the game. Character Creation Guidelines: -Use point buy or standard array to set ability scores. -Add starting equipment to your inventory -Add 400 gold pieces worth of non-magical equipment to your inventory -No homebrew content or anything that's not in the official D&D sourcebooks (unless explicitly authorized by the GM) -Add either one uncommon magical item or two greater healing potions to your inventory -Please choose a picture to represent your character and send it to me. -Message me if you need help or have any questions!
