About the adventure

You know, a pirate's life seemed a lot more romantic and exciting before you found yourself on an actual pirate ship. So far, it's been nothing but hard work, pitiless sun, and stench, with a healthy side of fear to spice things up. Captain Rondark isn't the most wanted pirate in these waters, not by a long shot, but he's shrewd and utterly ruthless. There's not even a warrant out on him - he's never let a survivor get away to accuse him. When he takes a ship, he kills them all, down to the youngest cabin boy - aside from those he presses into joining his crew, a collection of the toughest bastards to ever sail the Khyran Main. It's loyalty or death with this crew - and somehow, you've found yourself on their ship! Will you band together and defeat these ruthless pirates? Will you join them to save your own skin? Will you be the first to escape with your life and freedom intact?

How to prepare

Please have your characters created at level 3 and ready for review before game time. Make sure you are familiar with your character's abilities and the basic rules. For gameplay, all you absolutely need is a character sheet, a mic, and access to Discord. There is a dice roller bot in the discord server.

What I provide

I'll have the discord server set up with everything you need to play, including a shared party notes channel, dice roller, character creation dedicated discussion channel, and of course the voice channel where we'll play the game.

Gameplay details

We'll start the session with a simple and expedited session 0, ensuring everyone's game expectations are on the same page, and choosing or importing and finalizing character sheets. There's a link in the prep materials to the RPG Consent checklist - I ask everyone to fill it out so that we can just smoothly exclude anything any player isn't comfortable witnessing without requiring anyone to speak up on the spot. We'll spend the last 5-10 minutes of the session debriefing and coming down fro the excitement, and I encourage players to message me afterward if they need to privately talk about anything they went through during the game. Ensuring that gaming is safe and enjoyable for everyone is a high priority, even as I get adrenaline pumping and play on your emotions. We'll have a scheduled 15 minute bio break 2 hours into the session, and players can always request additional breaks as needed, for any reason. When you sign up for the game you'll be invited to a discord server for the adventure, which will not only be used for voice chat during session but also is a hub for communications about my games. The toddler affectionately known as the Sound Effects Engineer is generally present during game sessions and may cause unscheduled interruptions.

How will character creation work

This adventure is for level 3 characters. In addition to starting equipment, each character has 300 gold to "spend" on gear, potions, supplies, and possibly magic items. This represents the wealth gained after level 1 in your past. Since magic items have no fixed standard prices in 5e, using starting wealth on magic items will require DM approval - tell me what item you want, and I will assign a value to it.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Open to all
