About the adventure

This is a weekly campaign I will be running. I have always been a fan of the adventures in 4th edition and wanted to take that love abroad. I am taking 4th edition modules and importing and remastering them with 5th edition mechanics in mind. Trying to run weekly games to keep the story moving and players interested! I love story telling and working with my players to create a fun and unique story. This is the first adventure in the series! It will be Keep on the Shadowfell! Time passes and empires fall, and even Nerath wasn’t immune to the ravages of time. The once-great human empire collapsed almost a century ago, and only memories of its glory remains. Deep within the ruins of the keep, the magic seal crafted by the Nerath wizards continues to protect the rift, but time has begun to erode even this powerful magic. Moreover, the cult of Orcus has returned to the site, intent on finishing what its ancient brethren started! How will you impact the story? This game will have a gritty realistic feel to it, we will be using the slow natural healing variant rule (No full healing on long rest), keeping track of rations and ammunition used, to help create the feeling of fighting for survival. Using Foundry VTT we will be able to bring this amazing story to life in front of your eyes. Sound effects and great visual maps and effects will draw you in and keep you engaged. The system takes care of all the pesky tracking that becomes cumbersome for players. Allowing you to maximize your fun and minimize your downtime. Once your application to the game has been accepted we will set up a free session 0 to teach you the basics of D&D5e in Foundry VTT as well as discuss character backstory and options.

How to prepare

Players are expected to have some basic understanding of the rules, however it is not required I have no problem helping newer players learn the rules and how their characters function! You will need a Mic for Audio input, Video is optional for players but I as the DM will have video on. Right now I am using Google Meets which requires no account set up (link will be sent prior to game). I host all of my game on Foundry VTT no software is required to play, you simply need to make a free account at forge-vtt.com. Character Creation and importing is very simple to do once you're in Foundry.

What I provide

I spend at least 3-5 hours prepping each session, doing map work, story expansion and random encounter rolls ahead of time to minimize delay and get the most of each session. I try to provide cool and interesting handouts and maps to go along with the story, even creating my own to go along with published adventures.

Gameplay details

I always try to get the three pillars of the game (Roleplaying, Exploration, and Combat) in each session. If one session is more combat or roleplaying I will try to balance that out as much as possible. Players are expected to plan accordingly for challenges and will be rewarded for creativity and teamwork.

How will character creation work

We are using D&D 5e rules. Character Creation: You can use the Player Handbook, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, Volo's Guide to Monsters, and Xanathar's Guide or any other official WOTC source for character creation. I will consider other sources (such as Unearthed Arcana or other adventures) on a case-by-case basis, but would prefer to stick to the published books. Standard roll for stat system (4d6 Drop the lowest, rolled in game) or Point buy
