About the adventure

HAIL AND WELL MET! Come, sit around the virtual table and enjoy Dungeons and Dragons, the world’s greatest table-top role-playing game. Nefarious forces work to uncover ancient power, and rumors and sightings of giants spread throughout the Sword Coast. The eye of destiny is upon you as you arrive in Neverwinter, the City of Skilled Hands, looking for work. How hard could a simple escort mission be? Matters of Scale is for all levels of play, featuring a fun, straight-forward adventure which lays the groundwork for skillful play in the first half and pits the players against tactical and dramatic challenges for the second. If you are new to Dungeons and Dragons, have played a bit but require a little guidance, or are a skilled player looking for some fun RP, then this is the game for you. The modules "The Lost Mines of Phandelver" and "Storm King's Thunder" serve as the framework for this campaign, to which custom content will be added revolving around specific player-goals and backstory. While I work to make combat and puzzles fun and interesting, in my games story is king. I strive to create an immersive atmosphere with memorable NPCs, descriptive scene-setting, and voice-acting. I look forward to working with you to elevate our game from simple dice-rolling and statistics to a shared tale of epic adventure! Your Table Awaits…

How to prepare

Come to the session zero with a few character ideas. We will discuss classes/party balance as a group. Once you've made your choice, please try to be familiar with your class/racial abilities before session one (Chapter 3 of the PHB). I highly recommend that you create a D&D Beyond account to help you manage your character. It can be connected to Roll20 via the Beyond20 browser extension. All applications are free of charge. We will be running our game over Zoom, but a video feed is not required. If you wish to use video, please make sure you can be decently lit. A good microphone/headset is a plus. Lastly, it will be helpful if you can familiarize yourself with the rules for combat (Chapter 9 of the PHB).

Gameplay details

Our game will contain a fairly even amount of role-playing and combat; some sessions containing both, and some containing more of one than the other. I strive to make even random encounters feel exciting and challenging, and most NPCs will have stories of their own, some leading to side quests, some just for flavor. Good role-playing can lead to vulnerability that may become uncomfortable for some. I maintain a very open policy about what is and is not acceptable in my games. We will establish firm boundaries in our session zero, and we will be using the X, N, O card format ( https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/114jRmhzBpdqkAlhmveis0nmW73qkAZCj )during the campaign. I want the game to be exciting and memorable, but real trauma will be avoided at all costs.

How will character creation work

We will take care of Character Creation during/after our session zero, where we will discuss the game themes, player expectations, and party balance.

Players can expect
