About the adventure

The game is set in the world of Innistrad, inspired by Gothic Fiction set in the 18th to 19th century North Eastern Europe. Primarily occupied by humans, the realm features a variety of creatures that terrorize their settlement during the night, from vampires to werewolves, to spirits and demons. Humanity survives only through their aid by the divine host of angels, led by archangel Sigarda, and their own staunch determination to see the night through. The game takes place in a small hamlet located at Fang's End, and the players will be hired by the mayor of the hamlet to undergo expeditions into darkened woods, broken laboratories, abandoned ruins and the Mauer estate, discovering through their journey the terrible influence that is slowly, but steadily, transforming Innistrad to it's very core.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Microphone is highly necessary, as the game will be using Discord for communication during play. Characters being made during Session 0 means that players need only to come up with conceptual and light work regarding the characters they would want to play. Everything else the characters will require will be provided by the GM.

What I provide

Maps will be made by the GM for use during play, and music will be provided by a bot on Discord for ambience, combat and interactions during play. Illustrations of creatures, locations and events will be showcased during play as well.

Gameplay details

Communication in & out of game will be available for players to vent out frustrations, organize solutions to problems or mitigate situations that come up during play. Session 0 will feature the Lines and Veils ruling, and long running session will feature breaks for players to take a moment of respite from play. The campaign is heavily homebrewed,* featuring a Sanity system inspired by *Darkest Dungeon, lighting conditions that dynamically alter gameplay, short rest and long rest options inspired by the Gritty Realism optional rule from the Dungeon Master's Guide, unique spells and character options during character creation and level up, and a simplified carrying capacity system.

How will character creation work

Character creation will begin at Session 0. The game's heavily homebrewed nature features new rules for D&D 5e that will be need guidance to navigate. Each character will be made within the game's website (Roll20) if feasible, to avoid loss of information. With a session devoted to character creation, there should be enough time for character concepts, ideas and goals to be taken into consideration and expanded upon.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Intermediate
