Lost Mine of Phandelver

About the adventure

In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagonload of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found “something big,” and that he’d pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen's Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Hallwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to "take care of business." You've spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you've just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You’ve encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.

Starting at Session 0, we will play using AboveVTT. We will also use the built-in audio feature in AboveVTT for voice chat.

Gameplay details

Session 0 will cover the following: player and DM introductions; lines and veils; open door policy; house rules; finalization of character creation; and an introduction to AboveVTT. Then we will begin the adventure. The content warnings are general. More specific types of content may arise. The table, however, should be a friendly place to play, and I strive to keep it that way. This is a starter adventure, and beginners are welcome. Beginners can expect a patient, helping hand, and we will play at a pace that ensures everyone is following along comfortably. Expect a relatively equal balance of exploration, role-play, and combat.

How will character creation work

Character creation will begin prior to Session 0 on D&D Beyond then completed during Session 0. Full house rules are provided on Discord, but the basics are: official content only; standard array or point buy for ability scores; characters begin at level 1. Players may also choose to use premade characters.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
