Learn to Play Dungeons & Dragons: Make and Play a Character!

About the adventure

Well met prospective adventures! Let's set you on the road to glory and triumph! In this 1-3 hour session, I'll walk you through the process of making your first Dungeons & Dragons character using DnDBeyond or on paper. Once characters are made, we will all go out on a short adventure, in which you'll learn the rules and be able to experience a little bit of each of the three "Pillars" of D&D: Roleplaying, Combat, and Exploration. I've taught many people to play D&D and enjoy helping them discover the magic of the game. Let's find out what you most enjoy and set you up for success in future games!

How to prepare

Players need a mic, a computer, a web browser, and an active internet connection. It is preferable that players have a quiet environment to play in. You will need to create an account with Discord. I use Foundry VTT as the game client. I will send you a link to the game server when we start. You may wish to create a Forge Account ahead of time to use Foundry. You do not need to download anything and can run this in your browser.

What I provide

I will bring a fully digital experience similar to a 2D dungeon crawling RPG video game. This includes maps, templates, some animated effects, music, etc. You do not need to know how to play ahead of time but if you haven't played before let me know and I will help guide and teach you as we go.

How will character creation work

Characters will be created in DnDBeyond. This will be done during the session.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
