Lost Mines of Phandelver: Learn to Play

About the adventure

In Lost Mines of Phandelver: Learn to Play, I will walk you and the party through all of the aspects of D&D 5e. We will start with a robust session 0 that will include character creation, gameplay mechanics discussions, and safety tools. You'll be provided with a cheat sheet to outline what you can do on your turn, out of combat skills and abilities, and how to interact with the world around you. We will play through "The Lost Mines of Phandelver," the classic starter adventure taking a group of 4-6 adventurers through caves, castles, and mines as they attempt to secure an ancestral magic item forge for your employer. The adventure will end with your characters being level 6 and ready for grander adventures in the Forgotten Realms. In addition to our normal scheduled sessions, I’ll use discord to facilitate offline roleplay, where during your character’s downtime between adventures, they’ll be able to gather reagents and craft items like healing potions or new armor, investigate new leads that may lead to side treks, or even explore their own backstory.

How to prepare

You will need a dndbeyond.com account (free), a discord account (free), and a computer with a mic. Webcams are highly encouraged as they can lend nonverbal cues to roleplaying. I will be on a webcam. Dice rolling will be in Foundry.

What I provide

I will provide a dndbeyond master subscription that will include every available player option, Foundry VTT with detailed maps, a Discord server with private and public channels.

Gameplay details

This game is for beginners only, it will feature heavy rules discussions during combat and social interactions. Game is rated E, but can include fantasy violence and alcohol if age appropriate.

How will character creation work

We will have a session 0 to create characters. While you are welcome to bring a character ready to go, I strongly encourage you to create one with me so you'll have access to all of my books and knowledge.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
