Icewind Dale: A Plague of Ancients

About the adventure

Auril's Rime has descended on Icewind Dale, keeping the sun's rays at bay and winter's deep chill clutches the land. Evil thrives in the dark, and Auril is far from the only ancient evil to be found in this region of the world. Take up the role of travelers on their way to Icewind Dale, who inadvertently find themselves delving deep into mysteries within the Spine of the World. This campaign will follow the Season 10 Adventure League modules. I can the sessions with AL rules or my own house rules, depending on group preference.

How to prepare

Players will need a mic, and a place with no/limited background noise. I am happy to help troubleshoot sound issues, and want to do so early. Use of a webcam is not required, but is preferred because it helps me to connect better with you and your player experience. Players should be familiar with the general rules of D&D 5e, either through reading the PHB or by playing one session before. I am happy to (and delight in) helping out novice players!

What I provide

I will bring pre-built Roll20 rooms, complete with Dynamic Lighting if this feature functions well on your machines. Though we will utilize Theatre of the Mind for some encounters, more complex battles will have proper maps. I will also use our Discord chat in order to share some text-blocks.

Gameplay details

This game will include suspense, descriptions of bodily gore, necromancy, horror, and feelings of isolation. We will begin with a Session 0 to discuss these themes, player limits, and preferred safety tools to ensure a comfortable experience for all. We will check in with each other through the adventure, and revisit the Session 0 topics whenever needed.

How will character creation work

Characters will begin at level 1, and we will discuss character creation during session 0. Depending on group preference, we will use AL character rules, or my own preferred list of sources.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
