About the adventure

This is my platform for dungeons that can be explored in a single gaming session. When I schedule a particular game I will post the setting, theme, player character level, and other essentials in the preparation notes. Each adventure will feature one (sometimes two) unique monsters, a social encounter with one or more NPCs, a beautiful map, and a couple of other elements such as skill challenges, investigations, or traps. One Shots by Great Dragon Games is for players with enough experience to show up ready to play on Roll20 with a character (sheet can be DnDBeyond, pen and paper, or anything else as long as it is well organized). And minimal tech support.

How to prepare

Players will also need a desktop or laptop computer and a mic in a room with a good internet connection and minimal background noise. Mobile devices such as phones and tablets can be useful as a secondary device, but they do not work with the virtual table top. Join my discord server and my Roll20 campaign before the game start time!

What I provide

I like to do voices. I am not the best voice actor, but I love it. I try to always have something beautiful to look at loaded up on the Roll20. Remember to send me art of your character so I can make you an individualized token to move around the virtual table top. If the minimum number of 3 players is not reached, I will cancel everyone's payment. I may also make myself available on discord at the start time to chat about my platform and D&D in general.

Gameplay details

Players can expect tactical combat and a modest rules environment with a lot of role play opportunities. Because this is a one shot, I will not be doing a full proper session 0 with all players present to discuss safety tools and campaign details. I like to have a private intake talk with each player individually, during which time I will ask what excites you most and I will bring up lines and veils. I am a therapist by trade, and I am always available for aftercare talks either immediately after the end of the game or even days or weeks later:)

How will character creation work

Players should complete their character creation before the start of the game. Point buy stats and standard arrays are both approved. Most people use either old fashioned pencil and paper, or the DnDBeyond app with the Beyond20 widget to link to Roll20. I encourage rolling physical dice by hand at any time. You can use any character sheet you like. The format of a one shot requires us to use brevity in creating our characters. If you would like to write a backstory for your character, I suggest a maximum of 4 to 5 sentences. If your character relies on several multiclass, feats, and/or complicated or obscure rules interactions from multiple source books, it is probably not appropriate for a one shot. In my full length campaigns I encourage more in depth backstories as well as optimancy, homebru, and third party sources, but for this project I ask you to limit yourself to WOTC official material and go towards some of the more simple and classic combinations for your optimancy. Be prepared to provide me with text if you are using a source book that I don't have, such as MotM or Spelljammer.
