About the adventure

This is a short campaign of 4-6 game sessions. The adventure begins at the famous fighting pit known as the Red Sun in the city of Zadash on the continent of Wildemount. A fresh shipment of deadly monsters has just been brought in from the hinterlands, along with a gaggle of prisoners to feed to the monsters in grim fashion. The thieves guild known as the Myriad has become jealous of the Red Sun's success, and a human rights activist is on the verge of persuading city government to shut our favorite arena down for its savagery and fanaticism. So there is a faction intrigue going on, and lots of opportunity for role play, but no matter what an explosion of violence is guarantee. Spend a few moments thinking about your role at the fighting pit. Depending on your character class and level of interest in role playing, you could be a famous gladiator or a simple prisoner bent on escape. But you could also be the dashing master of ceremonies, conniving accountant, robust security chief, gnarly animal handler, fiendish undertaker, or a disreputable bounty hunter making a delivery. We are starting at level 8, so this campaign is for people who want to play at that mid to high tier. I like to make short campaigns because they are more in depth than a one shot, so we can have a complete adventuring experience, without the endlessness of a longer commitment.

How to prepare

Players will need a computer with a mic and a good internet connection in a room with minimal background noise. Touch screens such as phones and tablets can be useful for a secondary device but generally do not work on Roll20, our virtual table top.

What I provide

I love to do voices. I am not the best voice actor but I indulge enthusiastically. I take a very active role in communicating with all individuals about their schedules. I will have all the other materials we will need loaded into our discord server and our Roll20 tabletop. I try to always have a beautiful map on the virtual table top for us to look at, and personalized tokens for each NPC. Make sure you send me concept art of your PC so I can make a token for you too.

Gameplay details

I make a special slide for lines and veils on the virtual tabletop, where players can make entries anonymously. I am usually available for aftercare immediately after the game, or most other days upon request. I prefer X, N, & Os to be text messaged to me on discord, or simply stated verbally. Players can expect some problems that will need to be solved with cleverness along with a healthy dose of fantasy battles.

How will character creation work

Character creation can be done with me out of game, or during session 0. It should definitely be done before the first game. Player characters will start the campaign at level 8, but check the individual session notes for updates if joining later. You can start with one extra feat and your choice of EITHER one rare magic item OR two uncommon items. You can use the character sheet of your choice, with Roll20, DnDBeyond, or pen and paper, being the most popular methods. Players are also encouraged to roll their own physical dice by hand if they like. I want to lean heavily into the heroic chronical from Explorer's Guide to Wildemount. If you don't know what that is, ask me about it before beginning your character!

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: High
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Intermediate
