About the adventure

Nuclear war has ravaged the world, and now, scattered survivors and mutants struggle for the few remaining resources. A few have tried to rebuild settlements and create a sense of community and hope, while others raid and pillage for whatever they can. You have been captured by scavengers and locked in a cage with other prisoners. Your few supplies stripped from you and shoved into a footlocker just out of reach. The raiders didn’t kill you outright, and they haven’t distributed your gear amongst themselves. Why? Are they “recruiting” for their leader? Could they be cannibals, slavers or something else? So far, your attempts to get answers from them have been met with a mixture of silence and beatings. Whoever they are, they keep their distance from you, only coming close to check the lock and to throw chunks of meat charred beyond recognition into your pen. You don’t want to know what will happen if you don’t escape soon.

How to prepare

Players will need a free roll20 and discord account. We'll use discord for voice communication, and everyone will need to have a working mic. Video is not required.

What I provide

I'll set up the discord and roll20 servers and share access to the Fallout RPG rules via Roll20. As GM, I'll establish the setting and populate the world based on what your characters do.

Gameplay details

Fallout - War Never Changes is based on the Fallout video game series and uses Modiphius’ 2d20 rule system. Our game will draw from the Fallout setting, but it will not be attempting to reproduce the contents of the video games. This is our story, and your actions as characters will determine what happens (and what doesn’t happen). This game will mostly be played theater of the mind. While, we will use Roll20 to track character information, manage dice rolling, and to share game content, there will not be extensive use of grid maps or exact tracking of character positions. The game does take place in a post apocalyptic world with mutants, monstrosities, cannibals, and savages. Bad things are going to happen. In pre-game setup will review what we will talk about what we are comfortable having in the game. For me, I don’t run games that describe sexual assault (or for that matter sexual encounters), child harm or torture. Those things do happen in the world of Fallout, but at most we’ll fade to black and fast forward as opposed to going into any details. If you have any concerns, please let me know. I expect all players to contribute to the game for the benefit of everyone, and for each character to be willing to work as part of a team. You’re responsible for figuring out why your character is working with the others - don’t force that onto the other players.

How will character creation work

We'll do the majority of character creation prior to session zero on Discord. Players will have character sheets on Roll20 that they will fill in. I'll help anyone who is new to the process.
