Dungeon of the Mad Mage

About the adventure

Dive into the dungeon shunned by all but the most daring adventurers! Known as Undermountain, this dungeon is the domain of the mad wizard Halaster Blackcloak. Long has the Mad Mage dwelt in these forlorn depths, seeding his lair with monsters, traps, and mysteries. If you're looking for a long-term campaign and a steady group of gaming friends, this is your opporunity! We'll be exploring twenty-three levels of Undermountain along with the subterranean refuge of Skullport. I'm a story-enabler, and want you and your character to be the stars of this story. This may be a dungeon crawl, but there will be role-playing.

How to prepare

All players will need a decent microphone or a webcam with microphone, although it's not mandatory that you share your video. I like to share my camera, but not everybody does. We will be using Discord on a personal server I've setup for audio/video. All you need to do is come with some ideas on what type of character you'd like to play.

What I provide

I already have all the content setup in Roll20, including handouts, character sheets, and macros. With compendium sharing, you won't need to purchase a Player's Handbook.

Gameplay details

I describe my games as PG-13. If you're fine with any of the themes or visuals in movies such as The Lord of the Rings, the Harry Potter series, or The Mummy (the one with Brendan Fraser), then you should be fine in one of my games. As part of our goal to provide a safe environment for all players, I will go over Hard and Soft Limits / Lines and Veils at the beginning of the game. For those of you who own Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, refer to page 141. Also, X cards will be available as a deck in Roll20. I have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, sexual harassments, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other prejudicial behavior. Those who can't abide by these standards will be asked to leave with no refund.

How will character creation work

We'll be using the standard array method and will generate characters as a group during Session 0. During Session 0 we'll discuss backgrounds, a group patron, factions, and if we have time left, we'll run a scene at the Yawning Portal.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
