How to prepare

If there are new players, I will go through how to play at the beginning. Custom rules I use: Confirm crits. This is an aspect I'm sad they got rid of in 5e. I also double damage dice and ability. So crits are more rare, but a bit stronger as well. No crits on death saves, good or bad.

What I provide

We will be playing online for now. I know roll20 fairly well, so it should be a good time.

Gameplay details

We will be exploring Avernus, which is a layer in hell. As such, aspects of morality will be tested and talked about and tempting the characters, attempting to bring them into the realm of lawful evil. But I expect the players to conduct themselves with respect to one another. I also do not tolerate bullying in the form of 'that is what my character would do'. There is a difference between making a complicated hero, and making an excuse to be a jerk.

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen together. Backstory will happen in your own time. You all will be from the Sword Coast (or at least Faerun). I try to have players make characters who are at least good at something. Even though we are rolling stats, you are guaranteed at least one max roll.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: Beginner
