About the adventure

Set in the Forgotten Realms and Demiplanes of Dread, this adventure is challenging, scary, and as its namesake suggests, rather dark. The Prophecy will guide you, the Undead will stalk you, and if you aren't careful, the Mists will consume you. Can you survive Barovia long enough to escape? This campaign is for players looking for a more challenging game with dark themes and moral crises. Characters will be tested as they navigate the lost valley of Barovia, all whilst combating witches, werewolves, vampires, and the terrifying Dark Powers residing in this Demiplane of Dread. It will take good teamwork, quick thinking, and clever strategy to win the day! Important note: while much of this 5e module will be used as is, my version has been heavily edited and extended, resulting in a longer, different Strahd game. Rather than finish at 10th level, players can expect to make it to 12th level or beyond if they see the campaign through to completion.

How to prepare

Players require at least a microphone; webcam is optional. Players don't need to know the rules ahead of time or prepare characters ahead of time; I will be there to guide you every step of the way. Players will need to create a Roll20 account for access to the game map and dice rolling as well as a D&D Beyond account for character creation. Please have both of these accounts ready before session zero, but feel free to reach out with questions. The only other things players need to bring is enthusiasm and creativity!

What I provide

I will provide the digital game space in Roll20.net as well as content sharing for access to my D&D Beyond library for the purposes of character creation. After the players reach level 5 in the campaign, they will be rewarded with custom commissioned illustrations of their characters by a professional artist!

How will character creation work

Characters will be created at level 1 using D&D Beyond; I will share content so that players have many options to pick from if they don't personally own any digital rulebooks on that site. Players may come to session zero with their characters already made, but there will be time set aside in session zero for any players who wish to collaborate with other players or the DM in designing their character.
