About the adventure

āœØšŸ§™ FINAL OCTOBER - VERSION 2023 āœØšŸ§™ā€ āœØšŸ§™ā€ EH?: Take the Earth you know now. Add in somewhere between one thousand to one hundred thousand years. Between grey aliens smoking cigarettes at pizza bars in New New York and countless portals to hell casually bleeding demons on to the planet /and/ a second Moon with an unknown origin that deconstructs and reconstructs all organic and mineral matter on its surface monthly, (inhales) you'll find that there's a little something for every one in Final October. Final October is two things. 1. A flexible narrative setting involving both medieval fantasy /and/ science fiction. 2. An improvisation-heavy, table-top role-playing game (TTRPG). āœØšŸ§™ "YES, AND!" This is what I love so much about improvised TTRPGs. That incredible glee people get from a "Yes, and!" Improvising separates from a more rigid ruleset the moment a player asks "Can I (x)?" While early on the narrator will have simpler requests, there will eventually be times where the TTRPG will get its moment to shine as the most malleable form of interactive adventure, using the device that's so damn incredible, we based the turing test on it. /The Human brain/. Here's an example : A player asks if their over-confident drunken monk can haphazardly throw a bag of daggers. They're probably asking because it's not on their character sheet. Well of course they can! Generate a rule that coincides with their action, like making their chance to hit drastically smaller, and reward them inspiration, not forgetting to point out that they're getting inspiration for playing to character at such an extent that they chose narrative over victory! That is /the stuff/ of a good improviser.
