About the adventure

Ars Deicidium | 5e Homebrew Steampunk Greek Epic | Fridays 3pm Pacific After the fall of the Azure Dominion, the gods find themselves choosing sides amid their worshippers, waging war across the mother continent of Evriel. West of the highlands, the Cor-Ey Conclave is disinterested. Corr and Eylhea's dedicated resilience has long since birthed a flourishing region, focused on relation and community, without the same dependence on arcana as their neighbours to the east. Many wish to remain uninvolved in the fall of the dominion and the war slowly resulting in the burning of gods and razing of the land. Instead they develop even more fervently the steampowered utopia they've dreamed of for a century, regardless of whether it means braving that future as an isolated and infantile country. But the longer the continent finds itself the battleground of gods, the more the Conclave can no longer turn a blind eye... "Ars Deicidium" is a long-term campaign set in an overarching homebrew world. This setting in particular is inspired by the storytelling of the Epic Cycles, neo-victorian steampunk, ExU: Calamity, and Kenneth Oppel's "Airborne" all bundled together in a living fantasy world. The world bursts at the seams as a brave few try and shift away focus from the booming industry of print media to the horrors ravaging the earth just beyond the borders of the country. Heavy focus on roleplay, monster-hunting, and city-sprawling adventure.

How to prepare

Stable, reliable internet connection and audio quality required. Video preferred but totally optional. We will be using D&DBeyond for character sheets, and Discord for voice, video, campaign tracking, and battlemaps.

What I provide

I have access to all official content on D&DBeyond as well as animated battle maps which we will be using via a screensharing VTT method. I prefer this approach as I feel it best emulates an at-the-table feel and reduces the amount of tabs and things for people to keep track of!

Gameplay details

Session Zero allows the players to take the floor, ask questions about the setting, make requests for content they would (or would not) like to see. We will get you oriented with the Also Dragons server, discuss house rules and general community dynamic, and go through content-consent checklists to gauge levels of comfortability with subject matter that may (but will likely not) arise.

Content warnings

How will character creation work

Characters will start at 3rd level, in call, to allow for discussion of potential backstory connections and to allow consistency with the rest of the party. Nothing worse than a player making a character they are passionate about only to find that it's not a good fit for the setting or the party! There are some other details around equipment and house rules that will be elaborated on in Session Zero and may inform some player choices!

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium

  • Roleplay: High

  • Puzzles: High

  • Experience Level: Open to all
