About the adventure
Pay once and play for however many days is necessary to complete the adventure! Hurrah!! (Many will take 3-6 weeks of play, but it depends on how active the pbp is.) Adventures posted with this template will be "one-shot" play-by-posts. Some may be introductory while others may include legendary heroes, but fun shall be had with all! One-shots run in the pbp style may become asynchronous and span one more than one session. They will, however, be wrapped up with one goal in mind be that a treasure, a victory or a solution to some problem.

About me
I've been playing D&D for a few decades on and off. I started when I was just seven years old as I looked over the shoulder of some teenagers that I carpooled to school with. The BECMI books were such an intrigue to me even at that age (heck, I couldn't even read some of the words). Of course, my play developed from there and I became a forever DM. I've dabbled in some other genres (Vampire: The Masquerade, Aberrant, & Pathfinder mainly), but D&D has always been my go-to. I was strictly tabletop for most of my life and had a break from gaming for several years. About five years ago, I returned via Discord and PBP gaming because it fit best with my life schedule. Outside of gaming, I am a husband, father and Director of Nursing at a long-term care facility. I'm an amateur musician and lead worship at my church.

Creating your character
Each of these will vary as far as starting level goes. Pre-made characters available for some! D&D Beyond or Dicecloud for sheets. Point Buy, Standard Array or rolled abilities.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a Discord account and D&D Beyond or Dicecloud. Experience with Avrae is a plus but not necessary. I'm more than willing to teach as we go!
What Bedlymn brings to the table
I have almost 50 years experience with D&D and for the last 5-6 years run mainly pbp campaigns and westmarches via Discord. Rule of Cool might override Rules as Written in the right circumstances for sure!
Homebrew rules
The common house rules that I use are: Critical Hits: Here, critical hits are automated to the "Add Max Dice Total" setting. Your crit ceiling is consistent with the standard method, but your floor remains higher. So no more wimpy crits! *This type adds the maximum value of each die to the total roll.* ``2d8 + 4 -> 2d8 + 16 + 4`` (Do note that this rule also applies to your opponents) Healing Potions: Using a full action to quaff a Healing Potion instead of a bonus action grants the maximum healing effect instead of rolling the dice. Drawing & Stowing: This is basically just in the garbage. It slows the game down and causes confusion. Your character can draw and/or stow whatever items they need to perform an Attack, Magic, or Utilize Action without effecting their action economy. As with anything, this is within reason and subject to the DM's interpretation if something becomes complex. Gritty 0 HP: Falling to 0 HP instantly causes 1 level of Exhaustion. Yes, this can stack. If you fall to 0 HP twice in a combat then you would have 2 levels of Exhaustion even if you're healed.

How Bedlymn creates a safe table
I utilize X cards and Lines & Veils with all games. Session 0 will hopefully be relatively quick once games begin because once you join these games you will have access to the Discord server and we can begin to nail things down. The goal is to be prepared to begin some RP at Session 0!
