About the adventure

The Halls of Arden Vul are famous across the Archontean Empire and its former lands. The city fell over 1,200 years ago at the great civil war and collapse. It was rediscovered 3 centuries ago when the Empire was finally on the rise once more, and the legion sent in never returned. Today, the boomtown of Gosterwick (Vetercaster to staunch Archonteans) has formed at the base of the cliffs of Arden Vul. Adventures delve into the lost city, and some even return with treasure and statuary desired in the capitol. Honor, fame, lost secrets, or greed has brought you to Gosterwick and the Yellow Cloak Inn. There you meet other adventures with that same gleam in their eye, ready to risk it all. The Halls of Arden Vul is a vast megadungeon with 10 levels and 15 sublevels. It is set in a world pulling itself back up after a devestating civil war, and the Archontean Empire back on the rise. There are tensions between the Archonteans and free people of the continent. The dungeon itself is a high risk, high reward environment. There will be traps, monsters, and factions that will be out to use you or kill you. It is up to you to create a place for yourself in the lost Halls. This campaign can go beyond level 12 and it is unlikely the entire megadungeon will be 100% complete at the end. If you stick at it, you may turn your sights on cruel cults and demigods, as well as stranger things. The megadungeon is chock full of hidden passageways and alternate means of travel. Exploration is strongly encouraged, as well as clever thinking regarding traps and combat situations. I hope to see you in Gosterwick! Art used with permission

About me

I've been a GM for over 15 years now, and have been playing since the late 90's and Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2e. I have run Dungeons and Dragons (0e, B/X, 1e, 3.5, 5e), Vampire: The Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu, Fate, Cyberpunk, Mechwarrior, Pathfinder (1e, 2e), and Traveller in that time. I'm a huge fan of flexible systems that allow for quick resolution and lean more into rulings than rules. Personally I view my improvisational ability as my greatest strength as a GM. I have a strong emphasis on player agency and player driven stories. I love giving my players a sandbox and seeing what stories they want to tell. I also specialize in taking the ideas my players have about their characters backstories, enemies, and friends, and weaving those into scenarios seamlessly. I often work with published modules, but rarely run them out of the box. I like to customize them to the players and characters at my table in order to make them more engaging and enjoyable experiences. I am a trans lesbian, queer friendly, and inclusive. I will use safety tools if desired, though have for the most part used informal interrupts and messages if any lines are crossed. I believe in strong session 0s to establish expectations and lines. Both on my side and that of my players. I have a low tolerance for disruptive players and am not afraid to eject them from my table.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

This will be on Owlbear Rodeo. If you wish to check maps between session, you sill need an Owlbear Rodeo account. The OSRIC Player Guide is free to download from DriveThruRPG. We will use Discord for voice, you will get an invite to my server. If the party wishes, we will use cameras as well.

What Fey brings to the table

I will bring you the sandbox to play in. I will have the many factions of this megadungeon reacting to your actions, and provide a realistic world to play off of. I will provide faction play you can ally with, betray, destroy, or ignore. I like doing voices, but I can't promise they will be high quality. Combat is deadly in OSR, I will play it so but will also telegraph grave danger. The OSR encourages players to think creatively and outside the box. Pitch me your ideas on how to solve the hard problems of the megadungeon, and we will see them implimented!
